I hope Three Kingdoms has Dynasty Warrior levels of broken hero units. Warhammer was better than the previous games in part because you actually gave a fuck about your generals and agents now.

I picked up total warhammer 1 at launch but barely played it, feeling some total war now and want to get back in. Super confused on how total warhammer 2 works into it; as I understand it's less a separate game and more part 2/3 of one giant game made of standalone releases? Is that accurate? Should I be buying DLC for Total warhammer 1 or just getting 2? Can I play as 1's races in two? Do I need both installed? I've heard they can combine, but I'd still be clicking play on either 1 or 2 in steam. Just a little weirded out by how they work together

If they go with the province system and all the other systems that have been in the game since rome II it will feel like a reskin.

mortal empires right? is that a proper campaign? The campaign in TW1 felt almost... scripted. That's probably not the right word, but if you played it you probably know what I mean. It felt less dynamic/emergent than other 4X games, like it wouldn't have much replayability once I'd played every race once.

Also, in mortal empires can I play any race from either game?

Campaign Map is space. "Regions" are Planets/Moons/Asteroids. "Provinces" are star systems, etc.

Total war is land focused. WH40k is space based.
Space based games, at most, have fleet battles with autoresolve land battles (stellaris, ES, etc). You could see a title with mechanics similar to both ES and Ghotic armada but it wont come from CA.

High Elves are pretty GOAT too.

They feel like raw fantasy done right while the Empire’s the best Renaissance-Era Germany I’ve ever seen.
