As a new player, I was wondering if we could get the OP updated with the new mechs and what people think of them. Also, the folks recommending the Griffin-2N for a starter mech were absolutely correct. I love SRM boating, and this thing is a ton of fun and has taught me a ton about timing, twisting and having the enemy eat my arms, and staying alert to other SRM boats trying to do the same thing to me. I've been able to sneak behind LRM boats and core them several times now, and hunting scouts and other mediums has been an absolute blast.

Either way, playing with you folks on Discord has been a blast, if not a bit frustrating sometimes with my total lack of understanding and ability to do damage.

my new favorite poster

New mechs? You want a Mad Cat Mk II review?
I can maybe piece something together although I only have some experience with the Hero right now.
Overall, TL;DR verdict: Buy one, they're good.

>>but I don't want to put it on the optimal platform
>optimal platform
no
that would be MCII-2
but that just brings things back to point numero uno

>Haven't played in months
>Remeber that piggy's mailing list is shitty as hell, haven't gotten any emails from them
>Curious what the new grab deals are

is the urbanmech still the best mech

It's went from being something of a joke to being a viable Pseudo-Medium.
So while I wouldn't deign to call it the "best mech" it is definitely in a good spot. The K9 is genuinely great.

...

Obligatory when?

...

I would't call it the best, but it's a solid little mech. Tough as nails for a light mech, able to mount a decent range of weaponry, and 360 degree torso twist, and still small enough to not be everyone's first priority. Don't expect to facetank like a heavy though.

Certainly fun for meme-ing around, and tough enough to be noob friendly.

Obligatory never.

What drew you to your faction ingame? Enjoy their fluff from TT or one of the videogames? Cool iconography? Color scheme? Because they're currently winning? Friends in that faction? Don't give a fuck?

Ghost bear cause it's full of cute girls.

>Ghost bear cause it's full of cute traps.
fixed that for you.

no legit there are lots of girls in Ghost Bear
there's always a chick in any Ghost Bear invasion I take part in, and my girlfriend is in Ghost Bear too.
Also there was that girl last thread.

I've heard a few from the Bears, and I've run in a lance with one with the Jags too. There are probably more out there, but given how most online games are when wimmins are involved, and how they are regarded by traditional Battletech grognards, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that the majority don't bother using voice chat.

Sure is 'Murikan prime time in here.

i know it, even though it should be well past it, losing 48-0 cause everyone splits up as soon as they see a target, when they are grouped its 6 people trying to peek the same corner and just being useless shooting each other in the back

What went wrong, bros? Why did it have to end like this?

Hawken didn't deserve this fate.

what was the "hawken virus" anyway? or the gigastructure?

Can any Mechs BRRT extremely hard? Something like 2 RAC5s and 3 UAC5s, or 2 RAC5s and 3 MRM40s chain-fired or some shit

mauler and annhihalator can run 4 RAC5s

and alot of others can run 2 + 2xmrm40 like the king crab 000

I've been wanting to run a KGC with double RAC5s and some missile backup mainly because I think it would look really badass, I like mechs with varied weapons even if it seems like boating is optimal, just wasn't sure on what missiles to chose. Wanted to try MRMs too, are double MRM40 the way to go?

mrm 40s + dual rac5 really fucks stuff up, problem is both together is really really hot

Huh, that's kinda bad for an assault since I need to go in first, and RACs need face time. I can still try this, though. I've bought the 000 and 0000 on the sale (didn't buy B because I wanted to get the Assault Steam pack on sale but missed it for now).

you cant be afraid of downtime with the RACs anyway, theyll need to cooldown after a few seconds of fire anyway, either by letting them or to clean out a jam, so it doubles as cooling time

Well I thought I could waddle in firing the right one, then the left one, all while shitting our MRMs when I have an opportunity. Something to make way for the team, I guess.

Please rate

ill have one of everything dave
no you can just do that we have 20 beers here
1 of everything please

the fug u doing? that's retarded. potato / 10

>No streak launcher to blast with locked on SRMs and LRMS within that narrow band of range overlap
> No RAC to pepper the screen with while your other systems are on cooldown

Now I just want to put together a Hyperentrophic Warfare machine for shits and giggles.

Will this work?

>discord botnet

Cool story bro

>48-0
You should be able to get 1 (one) kill

What's this, the Griffin? Don't strip armor from the side fucking torsos with an XL, don't put that much fucking rear armor on the thing, you should strip armor from the left arm and move the heat sink to the right arm so you can put armor on your STs/legs, etc. Also XL255 weights the same as the 250 so you're got a literally obsolete engine.
It's a clusterfuck of a build honestly, I guess I have to fix this shit because you people have no fucking clue what you're doing.

Before, I'd meme around and hop contracts all the time like Kakos using single man units. I did stay Jade Falcon for a while though because I'd LARP with nicolai_malthus_batchall.mp3 over VOIP. Then Haruko (drawfag) made a picture depicting people as members of various factions.

Now we're permanent loyalist Wolf cucks because awoo xD knotty furfags.

>I guess I have to fix this shit because you people have no fucking clue what you're doing.

can you please stop talking like this every time you see a build? you sound exactly like connor trying to puff up his sense of importance by taking on the role of /GERG/ BUILD ADVISOR

But muh ac2 dakka.

Triggered!

>literal objectively wrong shit (XL250 instead of an XL255, unmaxed ST armor on a build with shit in the STs AND an XL)
>can u not tell him he's gimping himself I want to farm him for free damage
Fuck off, retard.

>XL250 instead of an XL255
woah, a whopping 1km/h difference, maybe hes using an XL from another mech and doesn't want to buy another XL engine thats only one point higher.
>unmaxed ST armor on a build with shit in the STs AND an XL
two whole points. if anything you should point out that 10+ back armor on a medium is stupid but that's about it.

this build isn't 100% efficient but you're simply using this as an opportunity to feel important and that is sad.

you should literally never buy an XL250 ever, don't even defend this you little fucking prick, you're just doing this to mislead people
>calls 10+ back armor stupid but somehow thinks missing 2 front armor is completely irrelevant
wew lad

>you should literally never buy an XL250 ever
why? instead of just getting mad and swearing at me how about you be constructive and tell us why one engine is better than the other.

Why are you this retarded? I already explained. There's literally zero downside to using an XL255 over a 250. They weight the same, are both XL engines, etc. One is literally 100% superior in every way. It's like if I told you that you could have $10 or $11 and you said "I'd rather have the $10"
You're cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If only there were some mechs that came prefitted with XL250s that you might as well use while spending engine money on something else. You'd look pretty autistic then.

>Inferior Crab variant
>two variants of the Enforcer
>one variant of the Trebuchet
>one variant of the Uziel
I checked, I highly doubt he owns ANY of those mechs and so I highly doubt he has a spare XL250
Fuck off, retard.

is it really that hard to believe? i have an xl250 lying around from the ghillie i bought and i use it on my lrm hunchback

You mean because of haracucck

>from a Ghillie
That's a fucking hero mech no way someone who's new enough they don't even understand fundamental mech construction would own a hero mech much less the Ghillie
>LRM Hunchback
begone fag

>no way someone who's new enough they don't even understand fundamental mech construction would own a hero mech

do we even play the same game?

Probably not, I'm in T1 and you're probably in T4???

is that supposed to be a counter argument

>he's actually T4
Fuck off back to the gold forums with your feelgood "anyone can build whatever they want, screw being efficient" attitude, you don't even know how to play the fucking game and you're on a high horse.

>lol u suk
>disregard the fact that i'm trying to divert attention from me being wrong.

I'm not wrong, though. I've never been wrong. Literally everyone but you agrees with me, and you're just disagreeing because you're an upset brainlet who can't do things right and gets mad when people correct your mistakes.
Inferior trash.

You can run dual RAC5s on both the Bushwacker X1 or the Crab "Florentine". That said, while dual RAC5s are incredibly fun and can put out quite a bit of damage, they eat through ammo like crazy, overheat quickly, and if you get a jam while you're being attacked you're fucked. Off the top of my head, you can also run dual RAC5s on a Marauder 3R, though I have no idea how efficient it is.

I personally switched out one of the RAC5s on my Bushwacker for a LBX10 and an ERML. IMO, the build is much more solid. The LBX adds to the dakka, helps rip up exposed components if you have removed their armor, and works nicely as a side-arm along with the ERML if you get a jam, or get engaged up close by lights.

you were wrong when you stated newbies don't own hero mechs. that is verifiably wrong and its what I'm talking about currently. that's like saying newbies in any other f2p game don't pay real money to unlock heroes or gear. the entire point of the last few posts has been talking about why a new person would be using an xl250

Find one person who will publicly agree with you. You won't, because nobody would want their username associated with your literal retardation.

we had a new guy join us in mumble who just started playing that week and he had a god damn spirit bear.

>mumblemutt
Ah, that explains your retarded, contradictory nature.

>diverting attention away from your defeated argument
>again

If you're trying to do what I think you'e trying to do, don't. Try my build. As interesting as it'd be to cram 60 MRMs onto a Griffin, it'll backfire onto you more often than not. The MRMs are very hot weapons, and with a 60 you'll likely be hitting 100% heat or real close within two volleys. You also really want all of your armor, and definitely not an XL engine. The Griffin is tall, and it's sides are easy to hit, so if you lose a side torso with that XL you're extra-dead.

Not saying mine is particularly well optimized either, but it's an MRM meme build. It either does laughably bad or surprisingly well in a match. You'll definitely need to torso twist in it, learn what maps it does well on, know how to stay out of sight, and how to maintain a mid-range engagement distance (since you're fucked by snipers AND dedicated brawlers). But when it works, it's a fun mech, and one I still don't regret having in my garage.

>less than max ST armor
>all that rearloaded armor in a medium
STOP

HAWKEN deserved what it got.

XL275 and not a XL280....

>noob named sucy joins us
>only mech he has is a 100-ton clan assault, the Kodiak
>constant double digit damage
>blames everyone but himself

275 is stock on the Bushwacker but nice false flag.

needy bamp

I fucking hate every single map-voter that is on right now and I'm gonna use my multipliers to vote in the most awful maps in revenge.

Polar Escort is my favorite to force on people.

>suffer narcoleptic blackout.
>wake up four hours later in the snow and rain.
>a grand total of zero people have tried to get me up, or called an ambulance.
>a single person finally stops and helps me up.
>say thanks.
>literally dropped 20 seconds from my home.
>check my belongings.
>everything's there.
>except one thing.
>spend 5 hours looking for them.
>another 10 the next day.

RIP, '08 olympian Ray-Bans. Ten years of proud service across the world, only to be struck down and stolen by some faggot 20 seconds from my apartment.

fucking shitter emps shaking my head to be honest

did you at least score some lawn furniture?

Nah I'm gonna force all the hot maps on people and laugh as they overheat, with Escort being a bonus if possible. I've literally been driving nascar on Polar half the time for the last 2 hours, with the other half being sniping on Plexus.

Not mech related

No, I was too busy mourning losing ten years of nostalgia.

>yfw the insurance company, despite the super advanced age of them, awards 20%, which translates to 211 burgercoin's worth of 2018 currency.

>mumblemutts

We can make it minimally viable robot related.

There are a handful of mechs that cap out at 250, forcing you to lose out on the juicy +5 rating. Plus you still have to buy it if you're spacepoor

I've been seeing them solo drop / duo drop separately a lot recently. Do they hate the bigmans? Were bigmans a mistake?

Nice blag.
Get yourself checked out, you aging drug addled fuck.

My bad, I was confusing the 250->255 jump with the 275->280 jump. I don't think there are any that cap at 250.

>that yiffy raven

Are there any significant jumps within the LE system I should be aware of? I haven't run the numbers personally.

215-220
240-245
275-280

Keep in mind there are quite a few 0.5 ton jumps before 355 since it's on a different scale entirely. For the most part, you can just pick the engine you want the most instead of minmaxing around the 255/280/300/325

Just learned about MWO yesterday and played about a dozen quickmatches with the trial mechs.

I mean this in the most genuine, not-shitposting way: is the gameplay really this simple? Everyone just rushes towards the enemy then clumps around the same bit of cover, poking out every three seconds to take a potshot before hiding again. Meanwhile 2-3 guys """flank""" which really means they die alone because there's nothing stopping your entire team from just turning around for half a second, blasting them the fuck up, then going back to their pop-a-mole game. This feels like a shitty version of WOT or War Thunder but with more depth in the garage.

Am I missing something? Is it because I'm doing Quick Matches? Again, I'm not shitposting, I'm genuinely asking. And I'm probably still going to keep playing if this is all it has to offer.

Narcolepsy's untreatable. Americans have convinced themselves that it can be 'cured' with excessively large dosages of high-grade methamphetamine during the days, prozac and various SSRIs during the night, and as much modafilin and cathinone as your system can handle.

They also recommend that that you go hard on the GHB, ketamine, and pregabalin to 'smooth your mood.' This is why APT is the way it is, senpaitachi.

>AAA thinking mans shooter.jpg

No you're not wrong, it actually is this bad. The only reason this even exists is because of nostalgia goggles and gold old men. It does get a little less braindead once you tier up but not by much.

>And I'm probably still going to keep playing if this is all it has to offer.

You're an adult and can make these decisions, but we implore you to not feed the PIG.

Did you narcolepsy from that jewish bird flu vaccine that was made for holocausting nordic people?

nice

Nah, it manifested when I was a teenager. To date, I've only had a total of 5 phase 4 episodes (cataplexy that rapidly transitions into hypnogogic hallucinations). By far the most horrifying thing about narco. You're conscious, but trapped in a dream world, while knowing full well that it's a dream. You can hear the people around you, but not see them, or call for help. All this while having zero control over your body. When I 'lost' my ray-bans, I'd been laying in snow and rain for over 4 hours. All that time was spent trying to convince an asian green lantern member that he wasn't real, and he needed to let me go by ending the fucked up dream state before I froze to death, got robbed, or worse. Imagine characters drawn from your subconsciousness reacting with fear to the real you in their dream world, and refusing to end the dream 'because I don't want to disappear,' and you'll have a good picture of what it's like.

The hypnogagic hallucinations on their own are child's play. People universally say they're intimately afraid of 'black void' sightings, shadow people, and rapid changes in temperature. That has been every night for me since I was 13. The last time I even reacted to one was last october, when I could swear I was petting my long-dead childhood cat, while purplish fingers slowly extended from the darkness beyond my bedroom door, all the way to my face, and the shadowy corners of my studio were crowded by pulsing, morphing faces of human-like spectres. I literally didn't give a single fuck, and kept petting the cat, knowing full well it wasn't real.

The one phase I seem cursed with the most is automatic behavior. I'll do something, just as expertly or poorly as you'd expect, then snap back to reality, having no memory that I did it, said the things I did, ate the food I ate, or ordered takeaway chinese. This state could last anywhere from a few seconds to hours.

Narco is about as misunderstood as tourretes.

Don't they call this schizophrenia?

>be Vass
>horny for once
>pop some viagra and go on the prowl
>find some hot young Asian thing
>fucki fucki sucki sucki long time
>get finished, lay in my drug addled state
>she starts saying something about payment in Swedish, then starts yelling at me in Chinese
>rifles through my wallet, there's no money in there just a couple of coupons for stuff like raisin bran
>snap out of it and realize that if I don't pay her things are going to be bad, I might get arrested
>hastily give her my Raybans and explain she can sell them for enough money to cover the cost
>she seems confused, then settles down and takes the glasses
>make up a story about how I passed out for four hours to save face amongst my fellow konglets
