I'm trying to use the 3do/jaguar Phoenix emulator but can't find a way to play in full screen without distorting the pixels. There doesn't seem any option to integer scale or have some sort of pixel pre scaling with the linear filter like in MAME. It's pretty much either raw unfiltered pixels that look terrible or linear filtered which also look terrible but uniform. There is some shader setting you can select but it doesn't seem to change much. I also tried adjust the renderer mode to the experimental one and played with the sliders to no great effect. This would be a good emulator if I could just get it to display properly.
Anthony Gutierrez
>Phoenix emulator Literally Russian malware.
Nolan White
hey gus what are the latest dramas?
Jaxson Perez
>gpl licenses and mit licenses code >gets literally triggered when they take it and make money
Never change you retard, someone should introduce you to lolcow observer people and make a whole wiki about your meltdowns
Nolan Rodriguez
Anyone know why I can't load the texture pack? Looks worse than I remember when I played it on a CRT.
Liam Cook
You did. Now increase the internal resolution.
Liam Sullivan
Thanks x2 user. Looks worlds better now.
Sebastian Stewart
Citra is actually good enough now where you could probably play through the whole game now, and it really does look way better than the N64 version. Just make sure to get the an unofficial build of GBAtemp.
Otherwise running it in Dolphin off the collector's edition disk works really well and then you don't have to fuck with N64 emulators.
Tyler Long

I downloaded the MAME 0.139 rom set off archive.org. I know newer games need other files, like CHD files or something? Where can I go about getting them?
Jeremiah Sanders
Just catched /emugen/ here on Veeky Forums in my country .. and I'm wondering.. is there any more emulators with this 'Playstation Vita' theme? Not as good as Dolphin for sure.. but gimme some suggestions. I love portable videogames .. and this theme is sort of portable ..

Why do we hate ZSNES bros? It looks great!

What does /emug/ prefer for snes9x scalers? Can't decide whether I like the colorful and super hi-res looks of 6xBRZ or the more faithful and less adultered hq2x.

Hey, right now I'm thinking about playing through the MGS games starting with MGS2. Was wondering if anyone had any strong opinions on whether or not its worth playing through them as opposed to just watching those movie edits on youtube.
Henry Ward
are you 12?

Can someone tell me how to remove the mednafen.exe from bookmark and recent list on Mednaffe? I did it by mistake and i can't remove it, deleting the .ini file to restore the settings does nothing and it's not in the registry either.
Nathan Fisher
>it really does look way better than the N64 version Looks mean nothing. The boss gameplay changes ruin the entire experience.
Other generals are calling you the worst general again, /emugen/. This time your offense is making a tranny kill itself.
Good job.
Eli Lee
Why do you link your own posts user?

Cemu is so good it's unreal.

I see you ran to /emugen/ for back up on my shitpost. Fucking lol It is not his post it is mine. and he ran here expecting a personal army.

Not mine, fampai. Trannykiller.

I don't know, I'd rather talk about autistic shit with murderers than with tripfags honestly.

Rachel had a pain condition and that is the reason she gave for what she did and frankly a lot of us can understand that. If you were in constant pain you'd consider doing what she did as well. The idea she did it because of emugen is just a meme

It's glitched. I don't have any Floppy disk drive and the bd rom is not connected to the motherboard since i don't use it.
Samuel Cruz
Why are you playing any of those on mednafen? The only worthwhile emus on mednafen are psx and saturn, and both are on retroarch in better forms since ryphecha died.
Mason Collins
>since ryphecha died. Wait WHAT
Julian Price
I think he's just getting mixed up with Rachael
Mason Robinson
MIA for 4 months and let the forum domain expire, she's dead.
Unironically using >it is just a prank bro Just when you think you have seen the bottom of /emugen/s sociopath like behavior you pull that shit.

When downloading from internet archive, how do you access the torrent that goes along with the file? I can't see an option anywhere for that, but the wiki mentions that there is one.
Aiden Young
fuck. So does anyone know how to use SSF and get clean pixel scaling in full screen?
Hunter Ramirez
I already have Retroarch and a bunch of other emulators but Mednafen is the one i like the most.

Remember when we had an overzealous janny who deleted everything he didn't like? You don't want strict rule enforcement.
Dominic King
how? the gameboy advance mednafen core is just a shitty v-ba fork that is worse than mgba. the snes core is an outdated bsnes fork, the nes core is based off fce which is garbage compared to mesen. there is nothing unique or special to mednafen currently, and retroarch has better sync and lots of options for reducing input lag as well as out of the box xinput support and stackable shaders.
Isaiah Perez
it has the best psx emu and could've had the best saturn emu
Aiden Turner
>the best psx emu That would be Beetle since all of the fixes Simias and rz5 did in october to finally bring it up to standalone.
James Peterson
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A LIST OF EMULATORS THAT I CAN USE ON THE PS3 TO PLAY GAMES FROM OTHER PLATFORMS?
Samuel Richardson
um beetle is mednafen
Matthew Campbell
No, it's not. It's a fairly divergent fork.
Zachary King
do they actually add or fix game compatibility or just add useless shit?
Nolan Sanchez
Surely looks mean more than boss gameplay here. The game was always more about atmosphere and story. Hell, I don't even remember any of the bosses from playing them as a kid. They can't have been that important. Did they really screw them all up THAT bad?
Liam Scott
>Highly compatible glorious GTE latency nuke >Increased disc read rate >useless shit You actually LIKE console tier internal performance? Like, I can understand fagging on about internal resolution being useless due to requiring PGXP to avoid looking like incredibly blocky shit; hardware rendering being useless because it's incomplete; and perspective correction being useless because it breaks so much. But there are things that are not just game compatibility that are not just useless shit.
David Reed
just use RetroArch
Luke Cruz
>Just make sure to get the an unofficial build of GBAtemp. That here is the most important thing about Citra. The 3DS version changed too much, but isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's like the dumbed down normal mode of Sonic 3 in the Sonic Jam collection with a visual upgrade. If someone modded the original mechanics back it could be very well the superior version. >running it in Dolphin off the collector's edition Horrible idea. That GC collection emulation is infamous for frequent freezes.
>defends cemu while still parroting the salty grapes hoax that it's probably "too good to be legal" using nintendo documents without proof baka it's true though that (*SOME) citra devs are pathetic enough in wanting not to cater at all to basic user UX yet want to user to put up with it, enough to come to gbatemp topics about the performing unofficial emulators and ask moderators to take down any videos of a GNU-compliant emulator that happens to have chinks builds in the recommended videos tab the video OP has no control on. If they don't get their way they'll instead whine about how users don't use the slowest nightly to submit them bug reports instead of the still-slow bleeding edge they still did a painful compromise by letting it EXIST, and how they instead use fast forks. As if they only care about open source to have a legal excuse to (attempt) shut down forks they don't like, not the share philosophy.
Nicholas Allen
>use app that require science degree
fuck Off
Grayson Morris
I'll take game compatibility thanks.
Brayden Watson
Good thing they have identical game compatibility, except beetle has additional optional features, dynamic rate control, and reduced input lag, eh?
Samuel Gray
Good thing it's on parity with standalone there then.
Jose Anderson
no I'm talking increased game compatibility
John Morales
Where?
Andrew Murphy
in the emulator
Robert Taylor
Where are you getting increased compatibility over the 25 games out of the entire playstation library that mednafen/beetle have known issues with?
Cooper Perry
But where though? Beetle was brought to parity with standalone not too long ago. If there's been any more compatibility increases since then, they should also be ported just the same. I can't exactly tell since Mednafen's crappy forums are down.
Oliver Garcia
by having the 25 games that are incompatible be compatible?
Alexander Cooper
But you said that you're using mednafen because and then when it was explained to you that beetle is the same thing but better, you said as if you're choosing mednafen because it has more compatibility. What the fuck are you talking about? Either you've got a double digit IQ, or english isn't your native language.
Nolan Lopez
fucking physicians
Alexander White
I'm saying I would choose beetle if it had increased game compatibility but don't give a shit about anything else
Chase Reed
That would be nice yes. But you're speaking hypothetically. Realistically, that benefit does not exist. However minor those issues are they're still probably there. Whereas the other (NOT useless) features actually are. So to answer Yes, they did more than add useless shit. They added useful shit. Just not the useful shit you want.
Nathaniel Jones
You don't care about internal performance, sync, or latency? I can only imagine that you've never actually had, or even tried to get, any of those. Because otherwise that's flat out senseless.
Eli Morgan
what's wrong with mednafen's performance? They run exactly the same for me. Only thing I would use retroarch for is rate control
Jonathan Price
translation: i tried retroarch once and it was too hard so i'd rather stick with inferior performance than learn something new
Isaac Butler
Are game updates in RPCS3 not working yet or are they just not working with disc games? I've got Dragon's Crown and it's 1.06 patch installed and showing up in the game list but none of the update features show up in game.
Hunter Mitchell
the only reason beetle is even viable anymore is because mednafen developer went missing so they don't have to spend time updating the core anymore.
Easton Sanchez
>They run exactly the same for me No they don't. Also, how would you even know, when you obviously don't use beetle? Why are you just making shit up? What's your end goal here?
Asher Powell
obviously to sabotage retroarch
Zachary Turner
sp is already doing a fantastic job with that.
Adrian Ross
The GTE speedhack (Mislabeled CPU overclock) removes any latency from the PS1's GTE processor and makes all its actions essentially instantaneous. Which results in a higher framerate, which results in lower time from inputs to visual output. The disc read rate speeds up disc speeds, like loading screens and things like that. Final Fantasy 9 and Crash Team Racing seem to benefit most notably.
And dynamic rate control is but one aspect of RetroArch's sync. All that does is resample the audio to match minor discrepancies in running rate to avoid snap crackle and pop. There's also hard sync, which essentially locks the running rate to the GPU sync object and prevents excessive buffering.
Lincoln Johnson
>play through medievil countless times on ps >get used to severe framerate drops in big scenes >emulate it with gte speedhack and play through 1 and 2 >enjoy solid 30fps >dig out ps2 and hook it up to sharp crt tv >fire up medievil >now overly sensitive to framerate drops and can't enjoy it >try gex enter the gecko >same thing low fps shitshow gee thanks for ruining original hardware for me.
Jace Nguyen
Original hardware was ruined anyway >Boot up old PS2 >Half of my memory cards are corrupted from game bugs (Especially the PS2 cards from Jax X's deadly shit) >Discs refuse to spin half the time >The other half they spin but take a million years to load >Even the old component cables I loved cannot save the games' low resolution >Try the older PS1 >Component cables won't even work for it >Discs only load when the system is upside down The only saving grace of ANY of that shit is that FreeMCboot still loads and I could copy what saves were NOT corrupted to a USB stick. So at least those weren't lost to time. Oh, and the PS2 controllers still work fine. If they didn't require adapters for use with computers that might actually matter.
Justin Gray
My PS2 started intermittently failing to read discs (while playing) about 10 years ago, but thankfully I never ran into memory card problems.
Landon Turner
Never played Jak X? Man you're missing out, that games was fun shit, and I almost never care for racing games.
Joseph Lopez
I rented the first jak and daxter back when it first came out, and really enjoyed it, but that was the only j&d game I've ever played.
Henry Parker
Vibration should work in ePSXe, right? Can't seem to find a straight yes or no answer without poring through reams of 12 year old forum posts.
Benjamin Gray
Sadly that's the only one that emulates with any semblance of playability. There's huge timing issues on 2/3 and frequent crashing on X, with some texture garbage on all of them.
But J&D is really different from the rest in both tone and progression. It's a collectathon without much story. While 2 and 3 are chuu2 as fuck and X has tons of explosions and vehicular combat. So you can't really be sure if you'll like them based solely on liking J&D.
Benjamin Jenkins
Last I tried like 6 years ago, it required a third party launcher to inject a controller plugin like LilyPad into ePSXe for vibration support. Their default one only supported visually shaking the screen. Not sure if they've added controller plugin support since then.
But if you're going to inject shit into closed source shit then you may as well use PCSX-R-PGXP with GL2 anyway.
Beetle's vibration just werkz automagically.
Zachary Price
I took my controller apart one too many times are broke the wire for the motors, and I cannot for the life of me remember if I had it working before or not. Now I've got a new controller and no vibration, but I'm not sure if I fucked with a setting somewhere along the line. I keep reading about Beetle and other alternatives, so I'll probably just give them a shot.
