Yes. Almost all the movies are references to western films. It's a less shitty title too in Japanese. ダークバイト・ハウジング (Dark Baito Haujing, or Dark Part Timer Housing) actually rhymes with the original title, while I don't know who the fuck approved "Cake" as a substitute for Dark in the translation.

I think that's tough because the protagonist's personality is malleable.
Ann would get along well with my version of Joker because she's the good cop to his bad cop. She can always see the good in people, and would ensure that any punishment or revenge is done not out of spite, but to ensure a positive change in the world. Joker is more brash, and would be the one that would drive himself and the team to get the dangerous work of changing hearts done. However, the reason he would do this wouldn't just be for himself, but to protect and aid his friends, especially his girlfriend. You can see in Ann's co-op how they complement each other. Ann wants to grow some emotional callouses to deal with the pain that the world brings, while Ann expects and teaches Joker about kindness and empathy, both towards those you love and tjhose you don't.

Whoever did though was amazing. That fucking dub version sends my sides into another dimension.
