Aurelion Sol, Orianna, and Taliyah are the most fun mid laners in my opinion.
A Sol and Taliyah are great for roaming once you get your ult and great in team fights. Orianna is like a slightly more challenging Heimerdinger, in that an inanimate object does all the work but unlike him she actually requires skill.

I love playing adc on Lucian, Kalista would probably be fun as well but I've never tried her, and I'm horrible at Vayne.
But yeah most of the champions are boring at the core because they require the same abilities to function in the role
