With 3D animation you don't have set frames the way you would with sprites. There are key positions and the game just moves the skeleton in between those positions, so they can speed up and slow down different parts of the animation at will.

The animations will be the same but may move at a very slightly different pace.

And brand recognition DID help Marvel because majority of people could easily see the game was rushed and not a good game but "because it's mahvel" some people still bought it. Besides I'm not saying that SFV is bad it just is more known among the FGC due to its legacy brand. Hell it's not even the most played fighting game nor the most successful one.
