The biggest problem with these games isn't necessarily the story or inconsistency, it's that they are mystery games with no actual investigative game play. Maybe that one connect the evidence on the big board part, but besides that, the fact that most areas are only accessible when the game wants you to go there. Imagine if you could actually go into most of the dorm rooms and class rooms at Blackwell? Game is too much of a your stuck on rails kind of thing. They should either improve that or do away with "gameplay" completely.
