Joke aside, is it different to play a Mystic than a Priest?

here, posted a little hastily, but let me explain in detail.

With a priest, the routine is something like :
1) check is everyone is alive
2) check if they're all at full health
3) applies blessing
4) if a boss is here, apply Energy Stars and Triple Nemesis
5) cure teammates
6) use mana charge if someone's mana is at 20%.

I under the Mystic has similar spells (like Volley or Curse and that infection spell who both lower endurance), but I don't understand if I'm supposed to bother with motes or not, given my teammates never bother picking them up.

Poop tons of motes when you have nothing to do. Don't poop mana motes, not needed. Unless you have a mana starved lancer and you SOMEHOW can't do corruption ring which from my experience doesn't ever happen this patch.
Motes should mostly be used as a self heal alternative, eating gives you almost no ani lock while pooping another mote could sometimes kill you. Usually if I'm low health I pop a mote -> eat 1-2 motes -> pop thrall of life if I'm about to rez someone to stay safe.
You don't need to use offensive thralls, especially in ilvl 439 dungeons since their damage is kind of negligible there and thrall of wrath tends to lag the hell out of some people.
You can use corruption ring to cheese some mechanics, don't hesitate to use it in lkh for example, I find it life saving on lilith. You can also tank the succ with it and heal others while they destroy the shield.
Other than that, the order of priorities is pretty much the same. Remember to use contagion only during enrage. Unless the fight is super slow (10 min+) in which case just throw it when it's off cd.

Okay, motes are low priority, got it. I forgot Ring of Corruption allowed you to recover mana, I tend to stay away from bosses so I never used it.

I heavily recommend staying in the 10-15m range to the side (or 15m infront of the boss during rk9 and second boss in trn/h) on most boss fights, both as a priest and a mystic.
Precleanse on priest for example, is much easier to execute when you're kind of close because you can react right away instead of having to walk in a bit and then cleansing. And of course cr on mystic for which you have to get close every now and then to restore mana.
