So how exactly are you supposed to counter this old bastard and his roflcopters and Mech rushes? I only play against my brother and I usually swap from Sensei to Jess because that makes the match more fun.
He usually plays Grit or Colin, Eagle is he's feeling it. We have a ban on Sturm and Hachi for obvious reasons, and we play AW2 rather than DS because fuck DS.

None. Even the shit ones might have a skill you need here and there. So instead of booting ALL copies of (unit), maybe you should put a hard limit of 2-3 copies for everything that isn't either really good fodder, or something you imagine +10ing one day if feathers ever become cheap.
Lon'qu, Hinata and Klein are good examples of guys you would keep plenty copies of (Vantage 3, Fury 3, Death Blow 3). In general, judge these guys by what tier 3 skill they get at 4 stars, since you might not want to spend the feathers to get their 5-star skills.

I don't know why people still try to push Gronnraven/TA3/Breaker when the build doesn't even make sense for the current state of the meta any more. She's only going to be useful as a Rein/non-CA BLyn counter, of which there's many that do it better, and with Iote's Shield as the near-perfect seal for her it's stacking redundancy after redundancy. Furthermore, if you're still worrying about Reins and BLyns in today's Arena, you might be half-a-hundred points under where you need to be scoring right now.
I'll never understand the people that praise that build for her on a flier team.
