Just backup your save file before ligthing the torch that spawns them, if you don't get the armor you can overwrite your save and try again. I think the conveant of champions does not work on them, cant confirm though

Time for some lore so deep nobody has suspected it.

All of you have fought Champion Gundyr, but did you know he's based on a real mythological figure? Gundyr is a many-headed giant in the mythology of the Komi, Finnic people of Northwest Russia. Gundyr is indeed a giant, and he has two additional heads sculpted on his pauldrons. But if that seems like flimsy evidence, there's more evidence that pretty much cements the connection.

In Komi fairy tales, Gundyr is depicted as always wearing clothes of steel - indeed, he's wearing full body armour in the game. He usually guards a powerful artefact that the hero is after, and, indeed, in both of his appearances he guards an artefact crucial for the plot - the coiled sword and the eyes of a firekeeper.

Most interestingly, when he feels threatened, he can assume the shape of a serpent or a dragon. That's almost exactly what happens when you defeat the first phase of Iudex Gundyr.

This got me thinking how many of the creatures in the game that we assume to be original are in fact based on creatures from obscure mythologies.

Would a faith murakomo for ds1 be any good since u gotta pump alot of stats for it. so 28str/40dex/30 faith. lightning blade/dmb buff on it, i like the sound of it but dont have alot of experience in DS1

Every time I die against gankers or bosses and accumulate my rage I unleash all my hate on the firekeeper by kicking her, jumping on her, using poison on her, attacking her with that notched whip until I'm finally satisfied.
Works pretty well

Don't dare you talk shit about the weapon that helped me almost as much as Black Knight Sword in DS1.
IS together with Torch helped me versus so many bosses

It's a long straightsword with a lot of status buildup and meh scaling, but good base damage, which is fatal at midlevel.
I can outspace my opponent only up to a point, and even then, if they're lagging enough, they can get 2 hits in and maybe proc frostbite.

How much activity will I get around Vordt's bonfire at SL23 WM +1? Wanted to get a few quick WoS summons before I head off to fight the giant tree fucker in the Undead Settlement, and I'm not feeling up to the task of helping people twink their way through Dancer early.

Fuck you and your stairs. The Dragon Shrine wasn't perfect, but it certainly was better than the Dragon Aerie with its durability slayers.
Although I'm still wondering why you were unable to target the smaller armored guys if they were staying still. It was like my character thought they were statues -- despite seeing them walking around just a few minutes earlier.
Also, the constant sound of beating wings fucked up the clanging sound of weapons, which made fights sound very strange.

i actually grew to love the stepping mindgames around the back stab and the fact you could counter a BS approach by moving to the opposite direction for a BS of your own.
