I hate weekend Veeky Forums, it always kicks us off page 10 super fast.

Convince me not to buy NTTR

No one will use it once SoH comes out

And when will that be

idk lol
this year for sure tho

5 most needed maps
1. Fulda Gap
2. Southern Iraq (Iran-Iraq war, Gulf War, Iraq War)
3. Korea (Vietnam would be here if infantry in DCS wasn't so shit)
4. Vietnam
5. Strait of Taiwan (PRC and ROC tensions have been so high since forever that any time period would be a valid scenario)

Middle East theater

I'm trying to use TACAN navigation but the white triangle thingy on the HSI is spinning around the whole circle and the miles indicator is inoperative

Wait it started working now, I guess the beacon I was tuned to only has a range of about 53 nautical miles

>takeoff from Tbilisi-Lochini at 17:50
>land at Batumi around 18:20 right as the sun disappears below the horizon
How comfy but I hope sunsets will look more spectacular in 2.5

Speaking of which is it reasonable to expect 2.5 to also make the towns and cities in the Caucasus look better than this? I don't have the Nevada map but I've seen videos and Vegas looks pretty nice there

Do you get a fat navy wife if you preorder the F-18?

...

Does any aircraft in DCS come with some sort of map/gps screen in the cockpit for easier navigation?

A-10C, Ka-50 and the Harrier will have one eventually.

first for no limits, and roller coasters
also first for Intamin Blitz coasters

unfinished second half of the ride

Are there any games comparable to Steel Battalion for PC? Specifically one with a cool controller with many buttons.

It's fucking sand
It's fucking Nevada

>dude im a 5/10 and even i find that disgusting
>i should have went into flight school

basically anything, many people use it for Mechwarrior Online and I've seen some Elite Dangerous setups with the dual sticks.

Here are the drivers
tamanegi.org/prog/vtchid/
Here are the *old* drivers.

anyone try headtracking with one of those realsense cameras? I'm sick of having to put LEDs on my head

I guess I wasn't very clear, but I meant games that come with a custom controller like the one used in Steel Battalion.

You can do it but it apparently takes tons of training because it's using the shape of your head to make a match.

So if you change headphones or if you get a haircut, prepare for some re-training.

Oh, I'm sorry.
Games that COME with a custom controller; none that I can think of because they all try to be as online-friendly as possible. But you can buy controllers that are specifically meant to be used with certain games, and are made by companies who make actual control sticks with real metal.
For instance, this thing. WW2 sims have a wide array of sticks you can use for the purpose of dogfighting with guns.

Oh for fuck's sake, why do I always drop my image.
This is the Gladiator from VKB.

Daily reminder that Russia is a shithole country.

Russia and Eastern Europe are literally the only things keeping simulators alive.

That and ASD.

make it till morning

r u sure

I fucking hate you

C U N N Y

I hope 2.5 comes soon and /simg/ rises from the ashes.

3.0 when?

Not modelled in early access.

Early access is fucking her before she got fat.

Why is it called "nevada" (which means something like snowy or snowed on in Spanish) if it's a desert?

>DCS and IL-2
>sims
kek

my dick

Is it a mistake to buy Nevada module on Steam?

It's a mistake to buy anything on Steam. Don't give Valve money they don't deserve.

It's convenient though. But are there any real downside, except contributing to gabens next lamborghini?

There's a Saitek X52 for sale for 50 bucks locally, should I get it? Or should I get Logitech X52 Pro for 180 online? X52 new costs 150, is there much difference between x52 and x52 pro?

The Pro has some metal bits afaik
The choice is all yours, $50 for an X52 doesn't sound too bad (if it's not used).

x for helicopters are godlike machines and actually are not stones, with a good pilot they will always make a safe landing

It is used.

Prices are a bit off, since it's in local currency, and I just did one usd = 10 local money, while in reality it's 8something.

So it's 70usd for a used one actually. Note that everything usually is a bit pricier her in Norway.

if you could check it out before you buy then maybe.
What's to say that the stick is garbage and has whacked sensors

How do I make airfields either blue or red instead of neutral so their ground crews will respond?

Navaid reception range is also dependant on your altitude. The higher you are the easier it is to get a signal

Because the north half of Nevada is snowy mountains

click them in the editor and at the top of the right panel is a 'coalition' drop down.

I spent a lot of time at 30k+ ft before I got the signal

Until 2.5 comes out it's a huge pain in the ass to switch between Caucusus and Nevada on Steam, basically forcing you to uninstall your current map and reinstall the other. Standalone players can just have both 1.5 (Caucusus) and 2.2 (Nevada) installed at the same time. Also when an update or new module is released, it's usually a week or so before it gets applied to the Steam version.

hey, in DCS editor, how do I put planes on the ground? I can set their altitude to just above the ground and right at stall speed, but never on the airport itself.

I see.

The modules I've already purchased in Steam, will it be available in the standalone 2.2?

The tacan receiver in the sim can also be pretty wonky at times because, you know it just werks ))))
I've had times where it took more than 5 minutes to get a signal and bearing pointer after I turned it on, while on the ramp at Nellis.

I think any module released after the M-2000 is incompatible between versions

The hornet is a sexy plane, I'm erect every time I think about it.

The first flight game I ever played was Hornet-centric.

Hey, are you using Receive mode or T/R mode?

T/R gives a faster response from what I've found, usually instant. Receive is hit or miss and usually only works for me if it's been in T/R for a while. This has been true for me in the F-5, the Mirage, and the Harrier.

I was using T/R

It could have been that there were mountains breaking line of sight between me and the beacon but I don't think it was that since I was flying really high, but I dunno

One thing you can do if you want to test and make sure you have line of sight next time is to try calling the airport on the radio. If it responds, then you definitely have line of sight.

In theory, I don't actually know if DCS' bizarre radio simulation actually works that way. I've been able to hail E-3s behind mountains before.

Are pedals absolutely necessary for helicopters or will the paddle thingy axis on the thrustmaster TWCS throttle work?

...

You mean rotating? Works for me just fine but you gotta hold that helo straight as always.

Does anyone know of a car sim that gives you a huge open world (that you don't mandatorily have to unlock by winning a million races) with lots of different environments and road and is also modern and good-looking?

I think you have to use the static objects button for that.
Assuming you want to do something fancy and not asking the most basic thing like how to ramp start.

Oh.
That's really dumb considering that none of the other editors do it that way.

Okay, thank you.

What are those panels on the left?

They look like the kind of thing I was looking at, except the only ones I could find were Saitek garbage.

Only if you are black.

bmp

Closest I can think of is Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Outside of a few conventional wars it's just boring insurgency stuff that DCS is shit at anyway.

Sorry dude, those panels are part of a Saitek stick.

not him but what HOTAS is that?
Looks like an X-55 but I didn't think they came with extra panels plus the bases look different.

X-65F

interesting

>Massive hardware upgrade to my toaster
>Graphics finally look amazing on DCS
>All my modules deauthorized
>Have to reactivate them all, burning activations
>Gazelle, FC3 not activating
>Every time activation for either tried, not allowed to take control of aircraft
>Afterwards, game crashes on shutdown

Thanks, ED

>Sorry dude, those panels are part of a Saitek stick.
Aw.
I wish I could afford the Virpil throttle quadrant

glorious soviet programming in action

I'm hoping VKB eventually makes good on their design for a full systems panel.

actually I had a question for the thread: If I got all these panels and shit, where should I put them where they're comfortable to use at a standard sized table? I know there are chairs that have mounting brackets built in, but I don't know which ones they are or where to get them.

If they do end up making that I sure as fuck hope they'll make a version for Europe with the labels in english instead of slavrunes.

DON'T YOU FUCKING DIE ON ME AGAIN

I say the same thing every 5 minutes when im playing dcs...

vaginas smell like fish

...

Do you lie on your stomach or something with this setup?

Maybe he's playing a prone Meteor simulator.

>Brits in charge of building an AWACS

IS there anything the Canberra airframe wasn't used for?

Steam is having a sale on Dovetail games/dlc, FSX,Train Simulator....

Stratos 4 game when?

Retard

>X-65
Very nice. I had this before I got the X-56. Was a great stick but I grew tired of the pressure movement of the stick

God these look beautiful.

waaah

youtube.com/watch?v=yzIJisWxB6Y

Got 2.5 Caucasus looks so good, can't wait to use CA on it. With the tree updates it might be really fun

i'm thinking about playing Command: Modern Air / Naval Operations but it seems extremely complicated. What do you think about the "Command : " games ?

It looks so deliciously colorful, I love it

Damn man I cannot handle all that COMBAT in this Digital "COMBAT" Simulator.

OVER 30 MINUTES OF PURE FUCKING COMBAT IN THE DIGITAL """"COMBAT"""" SIMULATOR
