EB is more accessible. If that isn't a problem then jump straight into SMTII.
Mash attack or jump to get up faster. Joystick / d-pad doesn't speed it up.
Most people don't give a crap about arcades. I'm not saying the arcade one is better here, just that if you enjoy that game so much consider giving the arcade one a try for a similar experience.
