If you mean the vine that grows through the blocks of the street than yes. Fuck jews.

Christianity.

Western Culture stops where Islam begins, with a "gradient" for Orthodox countries. Even intra-Euro racism is historically Catholic vs Protestant.

Try to deny this, but you can't

An individual relationship with existence.

Nothing. There is no bedrock to any civilization. It's a network of interconnected things giving it a sense of cohesion, like a cluster of annelid worms.

Sure, but the Church is dead in Europe and neutered for over 200 years. Nobody identifies via their beliefs.
So I'd say common culture and common values are far more important, at least for Europe.

"Western civilization" is an evil idea created by luciferian secularists to displace the concept of Christemdom in people's minds.

I dont think you understand what either of those words mean.

Nah

Socrates.

He is the originator of the basic western value: if you don't want to do something, and someone says you have to or they will kill you, you can always just let them kill you. Fuck them.

Jesus also held to this value, though it means less if you believe you are going to heaven after.

There are many factors, mostly revolving around economic growth and organised but liberal forms of government.

It would be quite naive to believe Christianity is the bedrock. I would sound plausible if you said the opposite and Christianity slowed down human progress in the west, the dark ages, superstitions, absolute catholic control and so on, but would probably be wrong and we'd be in the same position regardless of which religion gained prominence in Europe.

I would like to disagree. Thousands of years ago there were many different independent civilisations that were more or less similar in economic terms. A few hundred years ago, wages in western societies started to steadily increase in a higher rate than other economies like China or Persia, and didn't change until only a few decades ago in China, Japan, etc. Now, you can't simply say this is because of chance, becase there are a multitude factors what made this possible, such as new sources of energy, technological innovation, liberal free-market societies, accumulation and investment of capital that governments encouraged, and so on. Some might argue the importance of cultural and religious factors but the evidence is weak as the west was much behind for many centuries when China and nearby Persia was flourishing, probably not because of cultural or religious factors either.

There is no bedrock. It's all shifting sand.

The church is the best representative institution of Western civilization, but it does no favors to ignore the ideals and philosophical modes behind the church's intellectual strucutre and influences. These influences ultimately come down to greek thought, Christian scripture, and Germanic/Celtic culture (culminated in Augustine and Aquinas). The addition of Germanic culture to the western bedrock is what differentiates the west from Greek orthodox civilization, which exhibits similar foundations but with greek culture a major contributor instead.

A shitty Germanic imitation of the Roman civilization. Mentioning Greeks is ridiculous, the West barely has anything to do with them.

Certainly not Christianity, regardless of what autistic LARPers may tell you here

That's stupid. The influence of Hellenic thought and culture is spread wide through Europe and almost to China. It has colored most philosophy that came out of Europe and the near east for ages. Augustine is well known because he transformed western Christianity into a Greco-Abrahamic intellectual hybrid. This form of christianity greatly impacted the west's devolpment. It may have been several steps removed, but the influence of Greek thought is integral to the west's understanding of the world and itself.

The Greeks and Romans.

Without them Christianity wouldn't even exist as we know it, it would basically just be Judaism and probably be dead by now.

Explain to me how christianity isn't the base of all western civilization

Meant for

Western civilization emerged around 800 AD and eventually evolved into the modern globalized world. It hasn't had one 'bedrock' throughout all those centuries. Initially it grew around Latin/Catholic Christendom as opposed to Eastern/Orthodox Christendom and Islam. Later on in the middle ages it came to have far more distinctive characteristics like a common literary culture, laws, political systems, and stuff like that, so that by the time of the Reformation when Christianity no longer united the West, it remained a distinctive civilization tied together and separated from others by a plethora of commonalities. There's no 'bedrock' at this point, it's just a jumble of shared political, philosophical, social and ideological institutions and ideas. There's no one factor you could remove from a culture to make it not Western anymore.

This has no real relevance today, because Western civilization's ideas and institutions now dominate throughout the world except for parts of the Islamic world. The world can't be divided into 'civilizations' anymore. When we talk about 'the West' today, we're really just talking about the West's former core region.

>common culture and common values
Replace "common" with "christian", or even better, "catholic' and you're now a far right French nationalist party.

Do you understand what race means? There's a strong division in the west between catholic/protestant/orthodox countries, but within those countries, mostly mutual respect. Even when Italy/France or England/Germany are going to war, it's a respectful war, while when you get two factions of Christianity going at it, it turns into a genocidal rape fest.

Christianity provided a common cultural language throughout Europe, as is evident by common Christian motifs appearing in artwork throughout Europe, as well as a basis for the crusades, and maintained a sense of trans-european identity through pilgrimages which were common during the middle ages.

Look at a map of "Europe", ever noticed how it stops at Morocco and Turkey? It's not because these countries don't have a culture going back to antiquity, or weren't inspired by the Greeks and Romans, or that they didn't make contributions to European math and philosophy (I mean, the vedic numerals we use were passed onto Europe through the Arabs), or even that we weren't in trade with them for thousands of years, or that they weren't major historical players in much of European history. Spanish, a European country and language, has as much in common with Arabic as Greek or Latin, and has a ton of cities named in Arabic, but because it's Catholic they're one of us.

The map of Europe literally stops where Christianity stops being the dominant religion.

Everything that happened up until the year 1900.

Saying the Greeks were the bedrock of Western civilization is just "we wuz" at it's finest. Greek civilization has affected literally every culture bordering the Mediterranean, as did Roman culture, and then some going on into Asia, and was itself descended from the Egyptians. So why draw the line on one half of the Mediterranean? Surely nothing to do with the fact that it's the Christian half, right?

Same satanic spirit.

i dunno but you're mom is the bed

Christianity itself is a product of the Greeks.

Islam replaced all the Greek influence in North Africa & West Asia.

Is Ethiopia European?
It was Christian when most of Europe was still pagan.
How about most of Africa and Latin America?

>Is Ethiopia European?
>It was Christian when most of Europe was still pagan.
>How about most of Africa and Latin America?
Ethiopia doesn't border the Mediterranean though, does it? And South America is western civilization. Just because they aren't involved in the various power struggles of "the West" doesn't mean they aren't distinctly western countries.

Christ

Start with the Greeks!

When you borrow heavily from the philosophical ideas of Plato and Aristotle, or the organizational structure of Rome, your borrowing heavily from a western tradition that's already in existence.

Saying Christianity founded the west is something dibshits like Candida Moss would say. It's like saying Christianity created alcohol or the hospital system; you're giving full credit to a particular organization for political expediency in the present, when in actuality they just made large improvements or advanced something that was already founded.

The concept of "logos" was already widely used in Greek philosophy before the Christians reapplied it to Jesus.

Why isn't Ireland in your pic, they helped the British empire many times by consistently sending their young, unemployed drunks to act as cannon fodder and protective shields for the actual British soldiers?

Also their whole "independent country" thing is a sham. They left the UK right before the idea of western nation-states became irrelevant. All white countries need to start acting as if we're all the same civilization/confederacy/nation, in order to counter the endless hordes of Africa and Asia coming here.
