As a consequence people who dislike Ranko's way of speaking truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the deep nuances in Ranko’s existential catchphrase “Drown in the Darkness!” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now under this beautiful sun just imagining one of those mortal simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Ranko’s genius wit unfolds itself on their brains. What fools.. how I pity them.

Even though I think they rely on each other a bit too much, it's good to see that one is always there to pick up the other ones slack and as a result, shows everyone that they are the ultimate duo. Also, everything is fun in pairs.

I like her sense of showmanship and her dedication to her craft, silly as it may seem.

I adore her obsessive behavior and she reminds me of myself in a way. From an outside perspective you can make the assumption that she isn't a social person when compared to other members of her many idol units. However, she does her best to help her "friends" because despite being who she is, she actually really does want to work hard for her friends and producer, and make a significant impact. This was apparent in one event where she tried to calm her smile down because she feared that it would ruin the image of the group's song. The reason for her smile (and why I thought it was cute and admirable) was that she was becoming aware of her surroundings and noticing how different it was from her prior years as a single member. It was cute to see that she was noticing how many friends she was making through being an idol.

She's young and treats herself a little too harshly, but the things she take to be a nuisance is what I'm sure others find most alluring.

I firmly believe she'll one day be able to love herself as much as I love her as she keeps growing.

In the end I guess it really depends on the roles. Akane just lost her best opportunity by a landslide, maybe she can still win next time if there is a monkey or clown role.

It really surprises me that Shiho lost to Noriko once and to Miya now, I guess this really shows this is not a popularity contest and I like that.

I speak moon and I can't summarize why I like my favorite idols any differently than if I didn't. There's a reason why people like you are bullied.

There are more things than I can think of at once, so I guess the depth of her character is definitely one of them. I don't feel like writing a big write up though so I'll just mention what got me hooked.

I like how she doesn't tell you "I'm x kind of character" right away and you really have to get to know her yourself, in general I like how she's careful and maybe a bit distanced at first, but once you earn her trust and get to know her she is actually a really warm person. I also like that she's very polite and quite emotionally mature but does not fall in the japanese trap of being too polite to voice valid criticism and is actually also quite honest. I think the thing that caught my interest at first though is how she tends to have an unusual, yet still mostly logical, view on a lot of things.
