Sandy is very specialized, it's pretty hard to find use for her right now, Takao isn't that bad, she's really not good either, and she's a CA.
Unicorn and Cleveland are essentials though, and you'll definitely need them at every case you could fit in. That's already very good.
I'd say it's a good account, just take it easy and play it at your pace. With proper dedication, The SSRs will come eventually.

Simulators always will be unless the rates are 100% known. It's still a good indicator of things to come though.
Looks like they treat all SSRs in the pool as equally probable, even though a recent tweet revealed the neps are way more common than other SSRs.
Can we ever expect to get more collection rewards? I've got a ton of ships at LB2 with either no reward for that many stars or no reward for LBMing them.
The way it works is out of they allocate the percentages for the rate-up boats out of the 7%, then allocate the remaining to the rest.
Since the neps are 6%, that means there's only a 1% chance to draw a non-nep SSR. The drops from the simulator are completely inconsistent with my experience the last few events.
That and I don't think devs have mentioned which non-nep ships will be in the event pool.
I sure hope so. It'll motivate people to take care of underappreciated botes.

So if I've got this right doesn't Akashi basically replace Unicorn as a support bote for PvE when you get her?

Akashi functions differently to Unicorn. Unicorn and Shouhou are for healing your frontline. Akashi and Vestal are for general healing, extra ammo, healing items (10% each, 3 per sortie at LB3) and disgustingly strong AA power.
No, they're different. Even besides the classes, Unicorn will heal the escort fleet waaay more than Akashi.
I mean I know they're different classes and all but I meant if you're going to have one support ship in your fleet, doesn't Akashi all in all work as a replacement for Unicorn?
Of course Akashi's main skill focuses on healing the back row but her crane (unless I'm totally wrong and you can only choose either that or her healing paw?) will give some heals to your front row if they get low enough, which in my case they usually do much sooner than the back row.
Plus the emergency repairs works as an all around heal for the whole team and the extra ammo means you keep your plenty bonus for longer and/or on maps without ammo docks you can go for longer before you start shooting peas at the enemy, especially for kill-all-fleets runs.
Yeah but the front row I'm planning on building basically goes all in on torpedoes and evasion so I figure they would barely need any healing. And if it turns out they do then I'll slap a toolbox on them.

The crane heal isn't very good. Unicorn heals a 2000 HP boat for 160 every airstrike. Takes close to a minute for the crane to heal that amount, while Unicorn can do airstrikes every 15 seconds once you give her some quick maxed out planes. And the fact that she actually contributes damage means you clear things faster and take less damage every node.
What did we do?

I guess I haven't been putting enough good gear on Unicorn since it feels like she heals really slowly sometimes, but that might also be because one of the two fleets I swap her between has a really tanky setup that deals a ton of damage so they probably just clear things before she has a chance to properly use her planes sometimes.
I guess I'll need to reconsider Akashi's position in my fleets when I get her, but she's definitely got a spot when I'm going for the 3-star requirements on maps.
I only resort to cola when I have nothing else left to give. Some of my girls haven't even seen a cola bottle.
