So I just got Baltimore today. Kicked ass when I was top tier, but T10 matches on Tears/Okinawa make me want to gas myself. Is Des Moines any better?

I assume you upgraded it as soon as you could.
Des Moines is different. She is a lot more fragile, due to higher citadel, less stealthy, and BB tend to focus you a lot more. But her DPM should make for it.
Also, there are maps that just make you quit game as a cruiser player

I'm coming from the German cruiser line and those maps just leave me scratching my head in Baltimore. There's hardly anywhere to hide and my range is so awful. I also do jack shit damage to all the bow tanking battleships compared to Roon, unless I get some lucky fires. I hope DM with range mod will make things a bit better.

Giulio doesn't fear tier VII. The only thing she fears are CVnts, but that's true for any BB at that tier.
