His ult is suppsoed to be canceled if Ryze can't cast spells, but they never coded it for self-CC because he has none, innately.

Its not a Channel, as Ryze can do whatever, it's just a delayed AoE. But its still canceled by stuns/silences (not roots), and Stasis prevents casting, so he shouldnt be able to ult while in Stasis but the mechanic was fitting for Ryze's build, so they kept it in. Now its too oppressive and ending a game with a ryze on the enemy team is fucking impossible, so they removed it.

They've already identified Pantheon and Cassio as probably needed adjustments following these changes.
