industrial revolution lmao

Life is intrinsically pure suffering.

>believe - sincerely - that you are a member of the Master Race, and that all other races are inferior
>eyes are so shit that you need to wear glasses during a massacre

Also:

>Weren't things supposed to get better?
Why?

In what way?

>all this technology designed to make our lives easier
>instead all our difficulties just get shifted over into some other bullshit aspect

>Why was the twentieth century so bloody? Weren't things supposed to get better?
modernists had a fetish for violence and destruction

That technology also created greater potential for harming others

Part of my point.

>Weren't things supposed to get better?

They did. Despite the world wars, the 20th century was less violent than the 19th.

Then why ask the question? You know the answer.

Not OP, I was answering you both.

Your chance of dying by violence was less in the 20th century than any century proceeding it.

It just appears bigger because the population swelled up enormously.

>Why was the twentieth century so bloody?

Because we had invented cameras and newspapers. The 20th century was the LEAST violent in history, in fact globally levels of violence have been in steady decline for thousands of years.

State capitalism

The picture is fake
>Guy with the pistol wearing no insignia
>no shirt underneath tunic
>Guy on the far left wearing no insignia
>The rest of them wearing an incredibly odd mix of Heer, Panzerwaffe, and even Musician uniforms

More likely a Soviet staged photo

>Soviets
>Trying to propagandize Jewish suffering

not quite likely

>Soviets
>not trying to frame Germans for any and all warcrimes
22,000 polish people would like to talk to you in the Katyn forest.

Except the picture was taken by a German officer. Here's the part in his memoirs that corresponds to the period he took the picture:
>On the 22 September 1941 Lieutenant Bingel and his men witnessed a second massacre in Vinnitsa. This was followed by a third, also in Vinnitsa, carried out by Ukrainian militia who had been trained by the SS, and were commanded by a small group of SS officers and NCO’s. In the first two massacres, Bingel calculated first twenty-four thousand and then twenty-eight thousand Jews were killed. In the third, Ukrainian militia killings, six thousand were murdered.
>In the morning at 10.15, wild shooting and terrible human cries reached our ears. At first I failed to grasp what was taking place, but when I approached the window from which I had a broad view over the whole of the town park, the following spectacle unfolded before my eyes and those of my men, who, alerted by the tumult, had meanwhile gathered in my room.Ukrainian militia on horseback, armed with pistols, rifles and long straight cavalry swords, were riding wildly inside and around the town park. As far as we could make out, they were driving people along before their horses – men, women and children. A shower of bullets was then fired at this human mass. Those not hit outright were struck down with the swords. Like some ghostly apparition, this horde of Ukrainians, let loose and commanded by SS officers, trampled savagely over human bodies, ruthlessly killing innocent children, mothers and old people whose only crime was that they had escaped the great mass murder, so as eventually to be shot or beaten to death like wild animals.

Which is of course why it was discovered in an SS officer's personal photo album, and a different officer, this one Wehmacht, (Erwin Bingel) talked about the massacre and his orders to assist the Commandant of the Uman district for the Jewish "census", and identified the photo.

>The result of this proclamation was, of course, that all persons concerned appeared as ordered. This relatively harmless summons, it was thought, could be connected in some way or other with the preparations we were observing. It was because we took the matter so lightly that we were all the more horrified at what we witnessed during the next few hours. One row of Jews was ordered to move forward and was then allocated to the different tables where they had to undress completely and hand over everything they wore and carried.
>Some still carried jewelry which they had to put on the table. Then having taken off all their clothes, they were made to stand in line in front of the ditches, irrespective of their sex. The commandos then marched in behind the line and began to perform the inhuman acts, the horror of which is now known to the whole world. With automatic pistols and 0.8 pistols these men mowed down the line with such zealous intent that one could have supposed this activity to have been their life work.
>The people in the first row thus having been killed in the most inhuman manner, those of the second row were now ordered to step forward. The men in this row were ordered to step out and were handed shovels with which to heap chloride of lime upon the still partly moving bodies in the ditch. Thereafter they returned to the tables and undressed.
>After that they had to set out on the same last walk as their murdered brethren…

>[[[Evasion: Fail]]]

Entirelly different subject. War crimes commited against Pollacks had to be either muffled or blamed on Germans, since Pollacks were ""liberated"" by the Russians and had to be pacified by presenting what would happen if they've stayed in the Reich.

Meanwhile Jews were enemies to the communist cause, thus their suffering had to be downplayed. It would make no sense to create fake atrocities against your enemy.

>[[[Facts: Evaded]]]

You are wrong, this photo is legit and depicts exactly what it appears to depict.

>this photo is legit and depicts exactly what it appears to depict.

Glad we can agree on that.

Combination of increasing cost and destructive ability in War without a corresponding increase in caution among leaders.

>Industrial revolution in the twentieth century
t.Snownigger

I have a hard time believing this area photograph.

Citing the huge disparity in uniforms and the wide array of branches in one photograph at one time. I agree with Thats not to say atrocities didnt take place, this particular photo was staged

See soviet order 0428 "torch man order"

Civilizational growing pains.

Because the 19th century was the zenith of European culture, it was a matter of time before shit went downhill

>Why was the twentieth century so bloody?
Machine guns.

That's literally it.

Atheism is the culprit.

When you take away God from people's lives, they tend to turn into savages.

The theory of evolution also reduces the importance of human life (or certain races) so that's why genocides became so prevalent.

It's funny that atheists talk shit about the medieval ages as "dark" yet the 20th century has been the darkest and most bloody century in history, thanks to atheist states killing millions of people.

This.

You wouldnt have any science without free thinkers, more people were killed because of improvements to infrastructure and communications,

>"Kill them all,god will know his own"

it just takes christians a few centuries to kill 20 millions but they still did it.

The vast majority of scientists are and were religious.

The Eastern Front was incredibly chaotic, it's really not unbelievable at all that you could have members of different units milling about in one location. Also in an actual war situation soldiers don't fucking follow dress codes to a tee, real life isn't like Hollywood fantasies

Sorry no,99% of them are philosophers commenting on natural phenomenon,it isnt til the enlightenment when science creates the methodology to study the building blocks of the universe.

...

>philosophy and religion are mutually exclusive

Religion said the sun orbited the earth until a scientist decided to check, so science and religion are "mutually exclusive"

>pagans represent all religions

It seems you don't know what "religion" means.

You're making a fool out of yourself.

Religion=Dogmas that must be believed

Science=Theories that must be proved

Are you an idiot?

Religion; a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

You can be religious and a scientist at the same time.

Science is studying the natural world.

Religion is believing in something.

Science = studying a painting

Religion = wondering who made the painting

Philosophy/Theology = what does this painting mean, how are we supposed to interpret it, etc

This. Proportionally the 20th century was the least violent in history. The 19th century was the second least violent, and so on down the line (not precisely in order, no, but more or less).

No century in history can match ANY given century in prehistory for the relative proportion of violent deaths :: natural deaths, though obviously the absolute number of deaths for the latter will always be much lower.

Hi Stephen Pinker

Because we're assholes.

A lot more people existed than any other previous century.

ass

You clearly see soldiers with Nazi Reichsadler in the background, and the man with the pistol is wearing the same exact uniform.

Soviet Order 428 that holocaust deniers refer to is a deliberate mistranslation of the text.

The original order has no passages about Soviet troops disguised in German uniforms committing atrocities against their own population are contained in that order.

You can read the original here: holocaustcontroversies.blogspot.co.at/2006/07/blame-it-on-germans.html

Discovered by who?

Pinker doesn't have a monopoly on the subject, man. He just popularized it. Really, for anyone interested, my first book recommendation would be Lawrence Keeley's War Before Civilization.

Those people are actually partisans

>Meanwhile Jews were enemies to the communist cause

What?

We forgot about Jesus

>Weren't things supposed to get better?
No, Hegel. Schopenhauer was right.

German autism and angst

Why is the 21st century so bloody? Aren't things supposed to get better?
