I like his voice but I really don't think he suits Sojiro. I dunno, but when I look at his portrait, his nip voice is totally the sort of voice I can imagine him having, but his dub voice sounds really out of place. Not anywhere near gravelly enough and far too dignified for his smug demeanor - also he definitely sounds a great deal younger. That said, you're right that he's fantastic compared to the rest of the dub cast and is amazingly not prone to the same shitty direction all the other seemingly decent actors fell victim to.
