As far as we can tell, he bases it off a version where Karna was stronger than Arjuna, even if not by a terrible amount. There are definitely some key differences, like Karna never having used Vasavi Shakti in his legend against Ghatotkacha in Nasu's version.

Sieg is a boring as fuck character with shit development and Jeanne's infatuation with him is literally ridiculous. They have absolutely zero chemistry and everytime she gets flustered by him or he starts to fall for her it feels unearned - there is nothing there to motivate the reader to care about it or to make it seem natural.

Also the way Jeanne was butchered as a historical figure in particular really angers me since she's a legitimate, real life fucking hero and gets treated with less respect or dignity than fucking OCs or the rest of the Apo cast (minus Astolfo)

See part of the problem is this never actually happened. The most we ever got from him was "I want to see her." Period. That was the depth of it. Give it 25 more episodes and then he'd probably be in love, but at the end of the anime Sieg does not love her. Not even close. She means just as much to him as Astolfo does, possibly less.

To give context, Shuten wants to know if she can be together with Kintoki because oni and humans are supposed to be natural enemies. She then related that to Tomoe's relationship with Yoshinaka, an oni in human form and live with humans (the name of the event CE is a reference to that as well). A flashback about how Yoshinaka said he likes strong women, he doesn't care if Tomoe has oni blood and accepted her for who she is. Ontop of that, he is her husband so she fully devoted her love to him (manifested as the flame in her NP). Tomoe is surprised that Guda is very similar to Yoshinaka in that regard, as he doesn't care what his/her servants did in their life, they are all servants working for Chaldea to protect humanity. Shuten, Ibaraki, Tomoe or any other anti-hero servants summoned by Chaldea, regardless of their past, they are Guda's comrades. Tomoe made up her mind, no longer felt conflicted about her oni blood, and declared that she will devote herself to serve Guda (her current lord) as his/her servant like she served her previous lord (Yoshinaka).

This is similar to FGO Tamamo. Both already had someone they love in their memory, but because Guda is kind to them and accepted them for who they are, treated them not as monsters or familiars but friends and comrades, they will try their best to serve him/her as a dependable servant just like how they serve their previous lords, but no romance involved.

I like how recently they started to give Guda monologues and such to express his/her thoughts, slowly shaping his/her character more clearly btw.
