I honestly just think "mending kits" are a bit silly an annoying extra step. Tools and raw materials are all you need. It's what you made the weapons with to begin with.

Normal version is already pretty easy. You only need Cloth and Steel to craft the mending kit, which acts like fuel in fuel stoves and last ages. It's pretty much a "set up one time and you're set for life" kind of thing

default takes something like 35 steel and cloth to make 5 mending kits i think, ive only used the thing like once
