Is there any reason to use elements over ailments? Have sleep on my db, kulu tree, majority of enemies fall asleep at least 3 times and act really drowsy for a third of the fight. Plus get to use mega barrels which do 180 dmg

You should be doing F only and with no items. Anything more is casual shit and not the proper way to play Monster Hunter.

I suspect World scales the supposed difficulty based on number of players.

Sure, it's an easy to get HR armor with decent defense.
But you might want to specialize depending on your weapon of choice.

I have like 25 hours on this, just killed the pink rathian in high rank and had a horrible realization that I should have made a male character instead of female. I just love all the male armor sets so much more than the female ones.

I got HR 4 a while ago but I'm still only getting HR 3 investigations. I 'd like to kill some Anjanaths for their drops but I'd prefer doing an investigation so I get rewards as well, what gives?

Took me ~15 minutes with a Horn and he may or may not have taken 600-800 damage in a turf war in my fight. He's tough but if you break his face plate, it looks like his jaw becomes a weak point

I think all the cutscene monsters have inflated HP, mainly because when I fought cutscene Jyuta, it took longer than the two hunts I did of it immediately after.

Earplugs are not a worthwhile skill in World. Far too much of a point investment to block large monster roars. Go damage, go weakness exploit.
