there's a cheat method built into the game. go to your house and look for a book i think. pick the 3rd option and switch to english text and type "cave" and it'll unlock a bunch of crystals on the walls that will give you quest items and also a level adjustment option. the game is far too tedious to play without those. i got a gameover for walking over a specific plant.

4th option in the book with small case 'cave' worked. Thanks a lot, you spared me a lot of frustration.
