i always try to take A on that map, at the very least it lets your team push through much quicker, the solution... stop the enemy from doing that, if you have to sit safe or push through to the enemy's island cover it needs to happen

It's amazing how some players have problems to dps. Like, it's not MMORPG with complex rotation. You just have to point your guns and press button.

You have to apply the correct lead both horizontally, which is easy, and vertically, which is near to impossible due to the camera and zoom, then you have to hope for RNG to work with you rather than against you, meaning you have to score hits, and then actually damage your target. Depending on the class and the particular ships, both yours and of your targets, this might be a stupidly easy or impossibly difficult problem to solve.
