>start there and keep going around to other cities setting up enterprises, (dyeworks is usually best, but check other options anyway)
>you need this income to sustain moderate/large armies of elite troops in the midgame before you get fiefs

there is a surgeon companion that you should try and locate, his name is Jeremus. Companions can be found in taverns.
Or you could just be your own surgeon, but that will take a lot of points in INT.

why aren't there more M&B-likes? this Armaband game is the only one I've seen to actually use the campaign map and faction system from warband instead of just the combat. it seems like an easy system to copy.
