Could somebody tell me what is supposed to happen here?

Engineer is puppy guarding his Teleporter Exit and ready to whack away a sapper the moment it is sapped and gets into a battle against a Spy who is at spawn sapping the Teleporter Entrance and the Spy switches to his L'etranger to shoot at it while it's being sapper. All the while, Engy is holding Mouse1 whacking away at the Teleporter Exit to remove the sapper and repair the Teleporters.

Whenever I'm the Spy and feverishly doing this, the Engineer prevails and I can't destroy the Teleporters.
Whenever I'm Engineer, I can't whack fast enough (using Gunslinger) and the Spy wins.

Is there some trick to destroying Teleporters as Spy that I don't get? I switch to Sapper as fast as possible and then back to L'etranger to fire at the sapped Teleporter, but it doesn't destroy it fast enough to destroy the Teleporter.

if engineer has full metal you can't destroy his tele if he's on it with l'etrange due to damage down stat. you need a revolver in that situation, or if you're patient enough the sapper will eventually kill it if you place it 50 times, but if it's at spawn good luck with that before the next dudes spawn and kill ya.
