I love Ann, she is a great character!

Its not that I don't agree the game could benefit from more party member parity. But at the same time, to what end? There's nothing in the game that's really that challenging where the ideal setup is absolutely needed to succeed, and even the hardest content like yaldy/reaper/twins can be beaten with any team comp and leveling bridges the gap nicely.

with the other characters and arcs its like there's a lingering specter of narrative contrivance that turns me off. but i feel like the opening is really strong at creating a series of events that flow in a natural and plausible way, and at providing a microcosm of the game's thematics.

You don't even need to do that. You can beat the Twins at Lv9 on Merciless with the right set-up (although you need RNG to go in your favor to guarantee victory every time).

tons of times, even did runs with the dub just to mix things up

I don't see the point, why replay story heavy games when I can play new ones. There are p5onlis that have beaten 5 multiple times yet haven't even touched any of the earlier ones and that's just dumb.

If you're like me you remember all of the story and most of the dialogue, so you just skip through it but then you wonder what the point of playing it is if you are going to skip all of the dialogue and get bored and stop.

That seems like an arbitrary thing to omit.

I wish they had an "endless day" in NG+ where you can just play baseball, fish, play vidya, hang out with S links, whatever, without time actually passing. Know what I mean? Maybe a menu that lets you change the time of day for immersion's sake. can't believe they haven't thought of this yet.

They could also add an option to go back to any of the old dungeons.

I think the problem is that without having limited time, it removes any challenge or reason to replay the game.

I wish they had some sort of NG+ challenge or gauntlet mode. Imagine Lv99 Shadow Kamoshida, with all sorts of BS skills and tactics to justify having Lucifer and the Meme Man.

P5 already has no challenge in terms of time management if you just use fortune.

I could maybe see myself replaying 4 or 5 at some point. They aren't terribly story driven and are quick enough to skip through the text when the story does pop up.
I played through 5 a second time to complete everything and it was fucking brutal. Even with skipping all the text it was still a ~40 hour run because of how much story stuff and downright useless shit. The amount I found myself yelling at the TV "holy shit stop fucking texting me" was a little out of hand.

this special mode could be something you pick from the main menu after choosing a safe, or while in leblanc if you go to a special book on the shelf or something. "start free day?" and achievements can be locked.
