Why are there already playoffs? Are there playoffs for each stage? Do the playoff games mean anything if every team advances to Stage Two?

The playoffs at the end of a stage are just for a cash bonus and prestige.
It's still a league and the top 6 teams in the league at the end of all 4 stages go on to a real elimination bracket to find out Who The Best Team Is.
every stage has finals with prize money, they do it to make it more exciting and for more teams to win money

What are the best solo carry heroes? I get a lot of golds as D.Va and Moira but still have a sub 50% winrate on them.
I get less medals but have a higher winrate on soldier and tracer.
There's already two significant comps, dive and what's being called anti-dive, centered around orisa, junkrat/pharah, and widow/mcree
