currently dsfix doesnt work or is bugged, dsmouse fix also hasnt been working for a while now so KB+M is riddled once again with input lag, and serious mouse sensitivity issues

take it from someone whos used KBM for years in DS1 with great success, if DS and dsmfix dont work, just get a controller

I'd buy it but I'm not super excited beyond just being able to play it on a modern platform.

DeS is the shortest game of the series, lacks variety and the multiplayer is gimped due to World Tendency and there being no real incentives for people to keep playing online. No proper endgame content, no optional bosses or full optional levels, sucky armor set and weapon variety both in terms of weapons overall and movesets.

The atmosphere and level design on DeS is on point but purely content and variety wise it's the weakest game in the franchise.

DaS2 had multiple gestures dedicated to BM (Decapitate, No Way, Shrug), which everybody used all the time.

Point Down is the closest thing to a BM gesture in DaS3, so it's the one that everybody uses.

I'd argue that it's apparent at this point that the early Souls games are the weakest in many respects. I love DeS too, but whenever I replay it I'm pretty disappointed in its content.
Having replayed DaS recently, it's the same thing. I love a lot of DaS, but it's also a relatively short game with glaring issues in level design, boss design, and balance. I always realize this as soon as I beat Gargoyles, as I realize I'll be gradually approaching the game's second half. And then there's the PVP being some of the most bizarre in the series next to DeS' because of the fucking backstab-poise meta.

Despite being derivative, DaS3 is the most complete Souls game - not including BB.

I don't mind invasions. The game has been out for a while now, so I imagine 90% of the players hang out in the same area and have a certain metagame, and I don't want to be caught up in that. I want to experience the game "naturally" as if I bought it at launch.

In DaS, all we had was "Well, what is it?" and Look Skyward, which no one picked up. But PVP was 90% shit, especially Forest / Township.

In DaS2, you had No Way and Decapitate, and Dark Souls had developed an active "PVP culture", particularly with the lolarena.

In DaS3, the "PVP culture" is bustling with retards who take seriously the idea that is is serious, raised on a steady diet of Bamco's epic marketing and YouTube videos. Point down is all these poor children have, have pity on them.

Getting your ass kicked by a twink is part of the natural Dark Souls experience, same with getting gangbanged in the territory defender areas. You still have the advantage of 30% more health and twice the Estus of the invader (plus the ability to instantly summon two other players to your side), so the game takes it super easy on you anyway.

If you want to avoid the absolute worst of it, then simply don't Ember up in the two PvP-dedicated areas of the game, or level up to SL120 (stay under 108 to be absolutely sure).

Content wise with DLCs it's Dark Souls 2 > Dark Souls 1 > Dark Souls 3 > Bloodborne > Demon's Souls

In terms of game lengths. If you don't want to take my word for it you could of course check howlongtobeat and see how it matches up with your own expectations.

Most of DaS 1 bosses were relatively competent in design and considering DS2 has garbage like Prowling Magus and the Royal Rat Vanguard and Dark Souls 3 has shit like Ancient Wyvern, Gravetender(which in itself is an "okay" boss but it's a DS1 tier boss desu) and Yhorm the "remember Storm Ruler" Giant, I can't really fault DS1 for it's boss design.

Dark Souls 1 also has the saving grace of having optional content, incentive to stay and keep playing online, depending on how you feel about it's world design it's still the only one in the series to go with the really interconnected world design aside from Bloodborne and even in Bloodborne the interconnectedness just wasn't as well executed as DS1.

Of course if you don't care about that then that's a matter of preference.

Thing about Demon's Souls is that it's got a really awesome atmosphere, what world design is to Dark Souls 1, Demon's Souls definitely rides on it's unique atmosphere and the "feeling" of the game world. This is what makes it a really memorable experience but sadly it's the "dust off for a run through the PvE once every month or so" kind of game rather than something you'd feel like co-oping / pvp:ing in every night.

The newer Souls games definitely have their own shortcomings as well of course, like the Covenants are still really superficial and shallow but the fact that they're there actually provides a nice boost to the replayability factor and gives meaning to the online.

The Patrician choice was to try and use a phantom-unusable item and your character did a little shake like they were laughing.

And the arena focus in DS2 made me vomit desu, one of the reasons I was glad DS3 initially launched without an arena. The invasion gameplay would've been fun in DS2 except they went full nigger and never gave you enough CREOs.

Well the forest is the realm of ganking niggers and Townshit was full of family mask tryhards. Burg / Parish / Depths were full of maxed out pyro flame twinks with +5 Lightning Shotels or something equally stupid.

What you consider "good" or "shit" pvp definitely a matter of personal taste, but DS1 PvP had definitely some issues, especially due to low level pvp being restricted to twinks almost exclusively (because who can invade consistently without having access to advanced weaponry and skill that can kill the 4 Kings at low level?) and the higher levels had tons of minmaxing / poisestacking family mask tryhards.

As much as DS2 and DS3 get maligned for rightful reasons (extremely limited CREOs, no REOs and invasions gimped in favor of arenafaggotry in DS2, phantom spam and chugga chugga chugga for DS3), you'd see a much greater deal of build variety, and in Dark Souls 3 there was a ton of genuine low level PvP because like in Demon's Souls, they gave the Red Eye Orb fairly early on which allowed for non-twink invasions to happen regularly.

I would say on the "atmosphere" demon's souls does "dark and miserable" very well. I mean that in a good way. The whole game produces an aura of dread and despair.

Last time i had fun in DS3 that isn't the current Felicia build i used valorheart all the way through.
Some friendly dsg:er gave it to me at the first bonfire and i used only it the entire game. pretty fun as it's fast but not overly strong late, damage and block-wise. so you need to weave in and out and "be on your toes" at most times.

I'd say go Herald since it does have the extra stats for using armour and heavier weapons, plus it doesn't have as many points into luck.
