Why are longswords so much more popular than other weapons?

Is carrying 99 normal 2 + 80 gunpowder lvl 2 to craft more normal 2 enough for the karma LBG with a focus on normal 2 shots?

it has 3 possible augment slots.
thats it. the only time jagras is better than any other GS is after hours of dedicated autism farming for GS streamstones. otherwise Vaal, Nerg, and Arena GSs are better. though not in that order

As always, pretty easy to pick up and fairly versatile. You never run into shortsword-itis when you're trying to cut tails or anything like that, and it has crazy generous horizontal reach that extends behind your hunter. It's more fluid than ever in mhw, the new foresight move covers the main weakness it had in older games (gaining spirit levels and lack of defense), and the new helmbreaker gives it a nice exciting burst option. The spirit system and helmbreaker create a nice internal loop to work towards throughout a hunt.
