It had the same speed mechanic the GRU did so instead of leaving it and having a choice between speed with low health and not as much speed with vulnerability they just nerfed both of them since no one would use the nuGRU over it outside of Comp leagues that bothered to let it on the whitelist after the change. So now it has literally no use over the GRU unless you have a strange pro killstreak one.

It's not that people have an autistic hatred of comp just for the sake of it, but Valve forcing all the weapons to Competitively Viable™ is annoying and has resulted in them nerfing pretty much all the weapons that were banned from comp into uselessness. It would have made more sense to just adopt the sixes whitelist and leave 90% of the weapons alone, but no, now half my demo melees are useless
