Hey there.
I would suggest to giving both of them a try. The game just lets you level everything, and starting out on those jobs doesn't take very long. I would suggest trying out some battle content on your main, level 70 class, to see whether the battle system in the game is appealing to you.

It's really easy to level combat classes. If anything, I think getting into crafting/gathering is more challenging, simply because the best way to do so is to level all of them together. That way you can gather your own materials, craft your own gear, and wear the same set across all of them. It also benefits greatly from a bit of investment as you can buy Engineering/Survival Manuals using seals and such.
Shit housing preference, decent taste in music though.
I would suggesth olding off on crafting when you are so new. Focus on unlocking every major feature hidden behind side quests (many of which are fun) and getting rich boi.
Crafting seems innocent and fun at first, but eventually you'll be pouring literal millions on materials and get jack shit in return. So when you are at a state where a few million gil feels like pocket money, go in balls deep.
