m8, just play with people, as long as you don't triplecart you're gonna be fine. As for investigations, plenty of people do other stuff atm. Tier 2 tempered investigations are also worth doing and if you really need some just do a few quick expeditions to grab those quests. Find a squad/session to join and play, I can't even imagine being forced to play with randos, thank god /mhg/ exists.

Do elder dragons ever start showing up in expedition? Seems kinda dumb if you HAVE to do quests to fight them.

yeah you're talking about the 2nd gen shuffle. Rajang didn't have that in 4U because he had a turning bunch that he liked to use, which would really dangerous if it wasn't so easy to avoid. Gained a scream to armor on his fists which raised the impact of his punches, so that's cool too.

Then had the stagger tolerance of his back legs thrown into the trashcan so it became extremely easy to trip even 140 Rajang in comparison to getting a trip by beating up 140 Shagaru's front arms/wings. And because his fists armored up, unless you were farming for horns, which nobody in GQs were doing, they most enticing hitzone wasn't his head, for damage, it was his hind legs, which had the benefit of tripping. Apex Rajang is a fuckup as well, spending 5 thousand years lifting up a giant rock that is the equivalent of "please beat my shit in".

The best he got in terms of an actual difficulty increase was the aforementioned roar, because in some cases you could get punched in the face and sent flying while he did the 2nd gen shuffle. And unless I'm misremembering his airball was way easier to dodge. While I would like to applaud the armor on his fists, I have to frown on it because that move doesn't need to exist for a few reasons. It's hitzone unfriendly, so if you WERE trying to get horns, you now have to deal with that. It encouraged attacking his ass, which people indeed did the entire fight.

He was indeed faster, there's no arguing that. But he was not harder. At least not in my opinion. The updated movesets alone made it so that the poor guy couldn't possibly push you into an oh shit moment, such as missing a swing and having him throw a spiritbomb on you. So all he really got was faster and slightly easier to dodge. I'm not sure what the meta for farming Rajang was later on was. I do know that people paired him with shit, so I imagine he was even easier than that due to multiplayer health scaling.

Everything I've achieved was with random people so far.

I'll give /mhg/ a try when I get home, I shouldn't be triple carting anything at this point (I haven't in some time at least).

Anyway, I think I don't know all of its tricks, I saw a video of a dude that used something similar to the explosion combo in sword mode, but it looked like he mounted in the monster, how the hell do I do that?

It just happens when your sword is in its glowy discharge state. Fill the gauge, discharge when your nearly deplete the metre. OR don't, I hear it's apparently bad dps and what you want to do is switch to axe at the last moment and do the wild swing once to combo back into sword, and I duno, do that ad infinitum I guess.

Personally it's a bit boring and the combo into sword almost never hits.

It really doesn't matter, it's pure luck. T2 or Elders can land you great gems, but you get the added bonus of streamstones for elders. T2 does seem to reward you with warped feystones more often though. But I'm still not sure what they do. They seem to have the same pool as worn ones and award trash gems just as often.

One of the few reasons why the earplugs charm is actually really really good if you're going to use earplugs + 5. It's the only 3 slotter charm that has 3 points on it.
