Difference is if your mmr is low in that system, you will gain more ELO as a reward if you're strong. All the way up to where you're "supposed" to be and then go 50% win rate. In GBF everyone gets thrown into Tier A and the only that matters is whether you win or not, since all the rewards are the same.
