I lost Rance in a meaningless field battle. Trying to use him as an extra resource in an early game. Every three losses. Using Rance needs a great deal of judgement, focus and concentration. Playing tired etc. NOT recommended..

But seriously, recently I'm starting to think it is very much ok to take it easy in the start of a 5SNB Ironman run and farm a good amount of commanders to prison, while taking it easy catching Isoroku. That stage of the game is easy and safe to play, and there is no huge pressure to move. Actually, it might be the only stage of the game that actually rewards you for moving slow. I'm thinking the optimal spot to move on is when you get pop staff, or hit like turn 25.

Generally also, during 5SNB Ironman runs, taking it slow and steady seems to be much better than fast and risky. I might have said this before.
