That's actually a bullshit misconception people have because everyone thinks that everyone died young. The reality is most women generally didn't marry until around age 17-19, and men until around 23-25 (as men were expected to learn a trade before they married). The only people who married really young were royalty (who were the people that got written about the most), and even then usually waited a bit to have children. The one famous exception was a Queen of Spain whose name I forget that had one child at 12, then never did again, and many think it was specifically because she had the child so young in a time before modern medicine.
