Had my first game in Fiji and decided to go down the channel in Two Brothers with three other CLs for laughs. It worked surprisingly well, I got three kills and I'm fairly sure the others accounted for a couple more before three of us went down and the last one had to retreat. Got my DD quest 80k damage win and a bunch of flags.

Is Fiji always this fun? I swear the guns aren't any bigger, but somehow it just feels like a much smoother and nicer Leander even before you take out some useless torpedoes and add four more guns.

Akizuki is fun.
The best of their cruisers is Atago which is premium so you don't have to grind it.
Nagato and Fuso are the highlights of their battleship line.

BBs are good, except Izumo.
Zao is great for random battles.
Aoba, Myoko and Mogami got powercreeped, but they still teach you how to play cruisers.

Honestly, if you can't handle a line of relatively well armored cruisers, you should stick to BB's for now. There are a lot of ships that can overmatch the bow armor of a T6 cruiser. If you got a double citadel that way, you either got very unlucky or you were rushing a BB.

Move around, keep a distance to the enemy BB's, kite away and shoot AP at cruisers. It is as straight forward as it gets.

The Myogi is huge piece of shit, and the only good thing about the Kawachi is that she's only tier 3 so you don't have to suffer too much with her.

If you turn your DD sideways, it bleeds speed and its speed vector is not away from the chasing vessel, so it gets closer in two ways simultaneously.

German BBs who are better than you are simply aim their shells at the only locations the DD can be at if it's gonna gain distance instead of get caught. Then the DD still gets caught by breaking the engine/steering with every volley. 15knot Last Stand speed is nowhere near enough to outrun any battleship in game, especially not a 32+ knot german. Repair lasts a pathetic 5 seconds so non-retarded players will just hit them a 2nd time 5 seconds later and it's a dead DD.

Or RNG fucks you up and all your shells miss, which is an every day case for a BB with 6 guns and terrible dispersion. Also

I have 30-35% hit-rate on Gneisenau, Bismarck and Tirpitz. They're harder to dodge than slow american AP because of the additional velocity. If you can shoot all your guns in exactly 1 spot, a destroyer would simply move so that 1 spot wasn't where it was at. Against germany, they have to dodge 6-8 different high velocity spots and it's plenty to force impossible-to-dodge hits with a percentage of them. It's not my fault you suck at BB and suck at DD.
