Today I mounted a Kulu-Ya ku with the Switch Axe and in the process of stabbing it's brain for 1 dmg the Zero Sum Discharge prompt took over the mounting attack so every time I pressed Triangle/Y it vented a discharge explosion, after the finishing big explosion instead of getting knocked off my character transitioned into the usual mounting stab and eventually the mount takedown animation. Has anyone had this happen to them and can it be replicated?

Remove evade extender for something like Maximum Might. HBG already gives you an extended roll and if you have a shield you shouldn't ever be worried about dying.

>use poke attack to set up for counter if you're feeling ballsy
>spirit blade has super armor frames so don't be afraid to be aggressive

Mounts are based on mounting damage, so if you're using a weapon that doesn't have garbage single hit damage you can mount very easily in a single hit by attacking from a slightly higher Y axis.

gs can usually mount on it's first aerial attack. charging it up makes it more or less a guaranteed one

1500 would be 1.5 seconds. That image was showing 0.15 seconds over 2 minutes. 0.15 seconds is 150 milliseconds.

resistance 3 counters the hp debuff that Vaal puts on you, expert just makes it so breathing the fart gas in Rotten Vale doesn't do damage

yeah it's probably the second best for spread 2 and the best rapid fire ice gun

If you intend to go ice rapid fire then it's the best one you can use. If not, then you have better options.

Use miasma jewels for resistance 3 to negate the health debuff. Fun fact any Mantle negates the inhalation damage from gas due to their mask components so if you're fighting Vaal just bring Miasma Jewels.

Is light bowgun a good starting weapon? I like ranges and I like status effects, plus a bit more mobility than heavy

Kirin is 2* weak to ice but 3* weak to fire. It will do just fine, but a rapid fire fire element LBG will do more dmg.

Use the bow then. It's a cowards weapon but it trivialises most of the content in the game.

There's a crutch weapon in every MH. Just use what you think it's fun and try not to worry too much. Retarded people exists for every kind of weapon.

Doesn't 2* indicate that an element is average, not something the monster is weak to? And 1 star is resistant, but not immune?

Although I don't even know what "weak to" and "resistant" mean in the context of MH, it doesn't seem like even monsters that are weak to elements will take 100% of the elemental damage to a weakspot.
