Could be for a lot of reasons. Maybe she has been that way for so long that she just stays that way. It could also be that she wants to keep the “sister” alive. My thought is the latter since it seems like they were really close. Jin does something similar with Lora. This is why even though he wanted to die, he couldn’t let himself because the memory of her would be lost.
Also, just FYI but be careful with the spoilers. I know not everyone does it, but it would be nice to try and keep this spoiler free as best we can, esspecially with Nia’s whole thing
