I was passive-aggressively trying to get some confirmations of me being wrong. I really loved the concept of this game, preordered it and got to 15th prestige in the first 2 weeks or even faster, but when we all realized that the devs had no idea on how to balance a competitive brawler I've just felt so sad, I really didn't want to see this game die and fade into obscure mediocrity.
So my question is: are the 1v1 and 2v2 tourney STILL dominated by one or two classes while everyone else is completely non-viable in any kind of competitive play?

I was thinking about going back to this game recently. But it changed so much since I quit (2nd season), I feel I'd have to relearn it entirely, and then learn some more. Which is a pain.
It's starting to remind me of MOBAs, where you have to learn every hero's every ability before you even start playing.

That's her shitter stomper mechanic. The thing that makes her top tier and the thing that's always made her top tier is her zone/parry option select. While Warden, Roach, Zerk, Glad, and now Kensei can also do it, PK's is by far the strongest.

She's the strongest turtle in the game.

Nah, the combat system wasn't built for 1v1 and it isn't fun to play. The duel and "fighting game" autists are still around but now they've learned to keep to themselves.

With the parry nerfs deflects are more important.
Especially for roach & valk, who get some of their best damage off of them.

I thought it was weird to have a move that served no real purpose, hoping to find justification for it existing.

This game would be far better off as a F2P title if we're all honest.

What was added is the following

Season 5 was an extreme shot in the arm for For Honor. Not only are there new players coming in, but more people are coming out of retirement to play again like me.

I want to buy this game, now that I've heard that the dedicated servers have finally been implemented.
My question is: is it worth it?
I mean, I know you probably like the game, but is it worth the money?
Are there a lot of people playing it or will I get paired up with the same couple of people everytime?

Also, I know the game is hard as shit to learn, but I don't mind it that much. I'll probably get my ass handed for like 200 hours before I git gud, but that's kind of the appeal to me.

Your mileage may vary.
I'm at 400 hours over the past year, on/off.
It's good for playing dress-up & then showing that off at the least.
Some modes have a lot of players, others are empty. Console has more players overall.

Hey guys, I asked about whether to get highlander or glad the other day. Today I discovered I can actually pick characters I haven't unlocked in practice mode, and I've been trying them. Turns out, I don't really like either of them a lot, at least from what I've played so far, but I liked Shinobi, surprisingly, considering I don't usually like squishy assassin characters in games and prefer tanks (with the two characters I've done best with so far being LB and Warlord). Is s/he good?

He’s ok for duel. Not really offensive since he’s just meh in terms of moves.
He’s more then ok for 4v4 since his heavies are great for support

That's cool, far as I understand the characters I've been liking so far all seem more geared towards 4v4 anyway. Or at least I'm getting rekt in duels though that's probably also lack of practice. I think I'm gonna start saving up for Shinobi, shame I just bought an execution.
