Are you talking about multiple routes of dialogue and conversations moving to the same answer? That would be very tedious, they'd never write that much.
I've always wanted multiple routes in DR that lead to different conclusions, but again they woudn't do that and shake up the formula that much. I just wish you could get lead to the wrong conclusion and branch off from accusing the right culprit, to accusing the wrong one.

You could potentially have 2 options if you so wished to write that in (diverging the dialogue momentarily then having a specific meeting point where the convos line back up to the same topic), but only 1 is really sufficient. I'm not quite sure I understand your simile in the first line. Ideally the lines that lead to nowhere don't make enough sense to be a coherent string, or perhaps they conflict the message with each other, so you know not to choose a string that doesn't fully agree with itself.
