If you just want to mine, go with goons as they are the premier mining alliance in the game.
That being said all of the big dogs have their mining systems and it's basically what ever but by virtue of being biggest goons have the best advantage in internal markets and sheeit

The other guy told how to find your "base" but you don't have to stick in any particular system.
Most stations are about equally good, especially in regards to mining. Roam around and establish yourself where ever you feel like suits you best.
I don't recommend mining but hey if you like it I don't judge.

As how to reivest, that's easy. Simply go into your local hub and purchase things you want. I think you might be asking what to invest into which is more difficult.
Experiment with things and if you like one thing try to do more of the same in bigger and more dangerous scale.

You could get a destroyer and do some missions. The Sisters of eve epic arc should give you some decent money, as far as I know.
As for your second question, there's all out and the skill urself fags, though the later probably requires a bit more of sp and I dont really know how active either of them are. There's also the ingame channels where someone might throw you some money.

You're going to have to learn patience grasshopper. It can take years of training to pilot some ships.

Just anchored my first moon mining athanor in my home wormhole. Excited for the new industrial possibilities!

Visited my first wormhole today and stole some crokite. Was in a venture. Made it back home without getting popped by sleepers, which I saw warping in. Wasn't worth very much. Felt like a hero.

Mining plag seems like a safer bet and semi-comparable in price, but mining is terrible anyways and I should just continue to scan down mission runners and loot all of their salvage. I can make a couple of million in a hour mining, I can make a twenty million in the same span of time ninja salvaging. Both are high sec activities, and not a lot of people run missions in lowsec. Maybe salvaging level 5's is a thing. Could be dangerous.

Mining null ores with good skills can net you easily 50 mil or more in an hour after refining

Fug. Best I can come up with is use a rattlesnake with calari navy drones. They have the most shields, so when the rattle bonus kicks in they are very durable.

find a ship type and focus on it, and its associated weapon and defensive systems.

Frigates are popular because they dont take long to get up to par, I went with focusing on cruisers myself early on because they're not too crazy expensive to replace and they can do a bunch of content, through pvp and pve.

Start with smaller drones and kill the small ships.
NPC's like to shoot drones that are above them in size and only elite frigates lock small drones at least usually
