hi

>>(which I hopefully can achieve by bringing my own ideas into it)
I know the citation on this idea might put you off user, but I reckon the grappling hook idea from Arin's Super Castlevania IV video would be a good well of inspiration for your game. Smashing objects below, hanging onto moving hooks, grabbing and throwing things in an arc, etc.

umm how do I just like make game sweeties?

gaymes4gaymurs

we have confirmation that Trump is being briefed on the current skeleton situation.

pick an engine, start making stuff in it until it becomes a super cool game

how?
iirc their only useful long range weapons were the front artillery cannons

Benbo and Boku. Two peas in a retard pod.

I want to cuddle boku!

I learnt how to rig models today!
Also,I just made the model as low poly as I could from the beginning, made 2 subdivide cuts on the whole thing, and then clicked on the smooth vertices button a couple of times.
Is that how I'm supposed to do it?
apologies if I sound retarded

i haven't devved in 7 months and i want to die

I give up

So dev, what is the problem?

I had that same Idea until I realized that this would be not in my scope. The plan is to have 3 game modes for my game.

One where you only can whip left and right (aka hard mode) where your are more dependent on your Items. One with 7 directions (normal mode). And one easy mode with maybe 8 directions.

The thing is that I want to make a title that is more close to the nes Castlevanias (mainly 1 and 3 ) than to the snes.

If I will finish this game, I will make a sequel that resembles the 4th game more (but even with more Ideas and focused on the whip). The game that I'm working on now will be a tool for me so that I can get my name outta there and establish myself in the scene a bit.

n-no

Close enough. Keep going!

I mean maybe. Do you think its worth it getting a 4k monitor and making like UI assets and stuff in native 4k to scale down? It seems to make much more sense to me to make 1080p assets and scale them down and up.

Good idea I think. Start with a smaller, more tighter scope, then when you have that under your belt you work up to a larger-scale project

i have no talent and motivation

My UI is vector format in PSD, so even though Im working in 1080 when I export from photoshop I just double everythings size and hope it will look alright in 4k

so just force yourself to get experience by making some piece of shit, that's better than not devving

>sleep for 16 hours
>awake for two hours
>tired again
How do normies do it?

>not using 9 slice scaling with resolution specific icons

never gonna make it

oversleeping is worse than undersleeping user, get a proper sleep schedule and start regular exercise

I'm afraid I have some bad news for you user...

Who here /mmo/?

That seems like a cross between a zombie and a werewolf, not very grey

>grey propaganda shill detected

are there any interesting alien concepts other than coloured humans, tyranids, and greys for scifi games?

just started getting back into doing sprite work and wanting to make a game again. I stopped trying to make a game because im by myself and my games were ambitious.
So im forcing myself to do a smaller scale game.
RPG game, pic related is a pokemon-esqe town.

Would like any feedback or recommendations to add.

are there any examples of prerendered 3D to make 2D games made in games that aren't from the SNES?

It seems you can go full anime guilty gear Xrd with 3D, like a 3D anime.

ayy

I don't think you understand the amount of work that was put into their 3D
it would've been easier to do 2D imo

youtube.com/watch?v=sTzNT8cWivo

the grass and trees scale triggered otherwise it's fine for your scope of project.

>he thinks the effort made to make anime 3D is even the same as anime 2D
why do you think even SNK stopped making pixel art?

why stop at 2x2 trees?
generally you need more variety anyhow

You're working on your demo, right user? I'll be waiting to play it~

d-demo day 20, I'll have a demo by then for sure this time

>the same
harder, not the same

Akshully I'm converting my code so that:
SQL stores the class names and what they inherit from
Visual Studio loads the information from SQL, and a base class template, and outputs all the .cs files
All the code that is custom for each class is in a separate "partials" file, so the boilerplate of the project gets regenerated every time theres an architecture change, but the per-class custom code isn't affected

noted

It takes a couple of days for an AAA artist to finish a full professional AAA model today with AAA software.

It took an entire year per character for SNK to make in kof 12.
It takes the same character two months to finish in kof 14.

Friendly reminder to stop drinking soda and drink some water

>tfw rly dumb and trying to program

>my mom literally told me this today unironically
>without even looking I quietly asked her, "where is your game?"
>she walked away muttering to herself

literally me, its ok friend we can do it

>tfw 5 empty coke cans on my desk just from today
h-how did you know??

man i hope so. sometimes im just going in circles though trying to figure out stuff that i feel like isn't that hard.

Because I'm like you
Only I've had heart problems
You can't game dev if you're dead

i drink soymilk exclusively

be ok user

How many dead people have you sampled for this? I think your opinion might be affected by survival bias.

bro, are we the same person?

im doing this rn

I've sampled your mom at the very least

we probably are the same person yeah

this is fucking crazy, i thought only i was me

Do you guys write "container" classes or just accept ugly variable names? Things like:

float minimumRange;
float maximumRange;

or do you make
Range { minimum, maximum }

Oh ok, so you have sampled dead people. You just had to say that.

Now fight to assert your dominance

no, i use struct for that

there can only be one

heh, even myself is no challenge for me. you're dead kid

wait hold on, cant we work together rather than fighting.

what problem are you having me

...

There's too many god damn frogs in this thread

Working on he-111 interior, this is taking forever, the instrument panels are scaring me

sry

Don't really have much time for dev today, so I'm doing something simple and fun. I added a bullet impact effect that I feel came out way better than I was expecting. Also my demo day build, if I release anything at all, is going to be full of nothing. There's just no time.

>he-111
Blimp simulator? he-111 would be a damn lot of neutrons

What are you working on that you have an He-111 interior?

is this gonna stay low poly?

Yes because I'm not an artist and memepoly is an easy way for me to have graphics and shit without spending all my time making actually good high quality stuff.

out of control, you know its about the protons babe

It's part of this Witch Aces game where you ride broomstick and jack WW2 planes

So the idea is you can break into a bomber either through the door above the pilot, or break through the top gunner seat, forgot what the names are

Once you're in you have a handgun to take out the crew before they drop their bombs

that's a cool idea

Oh its a plane, I thought it was a zepplin that floated with some super massive helium isotope
Too busy frogposting to pay proper attention, sorry

dude, add a ironman helmet hud and thats a game i would play

yeah its in VR so planes look like shit at a distance

so it will need all sorts of indicators like that, so you can track targets far away

Reminder that if a dev gave up every time these shitposts were made this place would be empty. That's just math. There can't be more than 120 average visitors to these threads judging by the demo day participation.

I like this look
What are you going to do for clouds?

Motivation is snake oil. Listen to some anime music or power metal and pretend you're amazing for a few minutes. Then prove it. Just keep doing that until you're good.

>I've had heart problems
just today?
youtu.be/jNv4c1XzGOU?t=57

How does one design a town?

Blueprints and likewise

I've down individual things like shaping out a house before modeling it but now that I have to do an actual street layout I'm really scratching my head here

Do most devs just copy a particular area in google maps or something?

play sim city

I have some low poly cloud assets, that I'm planning on using. I'm actually using TrueSky for my skybox/atmospherics, which is complete overkill considering I'm not using the clouds at all. I could if I wanted to, but I'm not sure it's a good idea because it would look so dramatically better than anything else it would seem out of place. I'm also terrified of ever touching any TrueSky settings because that thing is so buggy and prone to causing problems.

>Make it out of grey boxes
>Compare yours to references
>Fix the stupid things
>Repeat steps 2-3 until your satisfied

you gotta have memepoly clouds to go with the rest.

That's the plan.

I wonder if you could use very sharp density functions for the clouds,

like maybe a scattering function that is almost toon shaded, so you would suddenly get out scattering, at some optical density

but I have not idea how that tool works under the hood

>1 sleep to go
aaaaa
i hope i can get this bit done in time

This could make a cool effect

please dont

Camera shake is to Vlambeer what olive oil is to Gordon Ramsay

this looks fucking awesome

>made 2 subdivide cuts on the whole thing, and then clicked on the smooth vertices button a couple of times.
>Is that how I'm supposed to do it?
Not really, there are some techniques that are way more sensible like sculpting and retopologizing or using subdivision surface to make stuff smoother (but you'll need to remove a lot of useless edge loops for that one).
Also look up the Grid Fill tool.

Why is the loli in heaven?

Who put her here?

don't ask questions bub

>boredom ramsay
>olive oil
Get this plaebian out of here

>uni test postponed because of snow/ice
>tfw sipping a hot coffee and devving without any stress
feels so good I need to blogpost about it

Awww, you think I'm a loli angle user?
