Does this piss anyone else off when it happens? Fighting teams who are blatantly far superior to you are the best and quickest way to improve, I find. If I'm just doing kind of poorly against a team that's on my skill level I just fall into a rut, if I get annihilated by a team who's fighting like a well oiled machine then I suddenly feel way more motivated to do better.

This isn't just in Overwatch, either. I swear, every time I take a bad loss my teammates just want to give up and fight someone else while I want to stay where we are and try again and again until we make some progress. Am I just a masochist?

No, the Overwatch community is full of babies. They blame MMR for every loss rather than focusing on constant refinement of their gameplay. They're only focused on wins/losses for acquiring the next rank icon and not on actual improvement. It's impossible for them to find value in a loss because they're immature and grew up with participation trophies. They don't value the match as much as a win. They'd rather steamroll a shit team than have a tight match that pushes them beyond their usual limits.
