First for fucking kill all aliens

I've recently been thinking about getting back into this game. Are there any mods that can turn my squad into anime girls?

Yes, you pathetic waste of skin.

>guy keeps wanting to make thread with vahlen chinese dress
>when he does the thread dies before 150 posts

I know who's at fault here.

>breakthrough!
>workshop construction
fucc
I use it but the negative repercussions of a failed hack are so huge and many of the gains so terrible I still barely every hack and it makes maybe a +7 difference on one ore two specialists by the time a game is over

>be me
>go play Into the Breach
>come back, /xgc/ is ded
What the literal fuck you bastards. I was gone for like one hour. Keep it together boys, we've got to survive to Phoenix Point.

I don't post every day but I'm here every day

Goddammit 2K, what is that DLC??? I'm enjoying the character creator more than the game itself at this point.

I post most days, even if just to bump. I haven't even played XCOM in like two weeks (Skyrim and Into the Breach are eating my gaming time right now) but /xcg/ is still among the comfiest generals on this site, so here I am.

>many of the gains so terrible

?

Hacking is high risk/high reward. Most of the gains are really good except for a couple of useless tower rewards.

high risk/reward is an awful choice in XCOM
that's almost like the entirety of the tactical layer, risk management. taking high risk options (like shitty 50% shots etc etc) are not ever the options you want to take

how did the last thread just fucking DIE lmao

the squad bonuses are useless on the specialist himself and impractically low success on the hard-mode squad-wide version and squad sight is shit, facility lead is often useless, bonus vision radius is mostly useless with reapers
I always try for double scan speed, and stunning mecs and sectopods and mission hacks are the only good ones

Speed running is stressful

IS that worth playing

Yeah, 15 bucks and the you get the GoG copy that comes with FTL. Already beat it 5 times, plan to keep going.

W-why is the thread ded

People forgot to bump it, duh.

And a shame too: it had a nice OP.

I'll try again! Y-you'll see!!

Bump

Cool Cat voicepack when?

Sic semper waifuposters.

...

t. Advent

I've been here consistently since early LW days, even when I haven't actually played XCOM for months at a time. No place like home.

...

>MyGames>Xcom2>XComGame>Logs
What are these?
Why are they so big?
Can I delete them?

try it

I haven't actually played an Xcom game in a while, I'm just here for Phoenix Point. I'll probably come back to to xcom 2 for the new dlc tho.

You should play XCom 2: War of The Chosen.

Need a Jake version of this.

Nah, Jake is too wholesome to be associated with Todd in any way.

...

Recently beat LW2 on veteran with true ironman, and no other mods. Would like a fun letsplay in the same vein as my playthrough. Not knowing if it's a failed one or not would be great. Any leads?

Pistols are overpowered!

I mean the newest DLC. Haven't people been talking about some new thing showing up in the XCOM 2 files or something?

There's always a next time

gottagofast

...

i was sleeping goddamnit
also is into the breach good?

Will XCOM3 be a post-apocalyptic hellhole world?

xcom2 is already a mid-apocalyptic hellhole

Advent cities are nice!

XCOM3 might be a remake of both Terror from the Deep AND Apocalypse, with XCOM rebuilding a new center of power with the help of the rival groups of the Templars, Reapers, Skirmishers, battling a threat from below.

Saved

Ideally we'd have things getting progressively shittier and maps changing to look more wartorn as the campaign goes on.
>early game cities are straight outta EU/EW
>midgame cities are more damage, abandoned and some parts are flooded
>lategame cities are in ruins, basically Dresden if it was hit by a flood after the bombing was done

...

...

>50 GB mod tools
I will never not be mad about this

>bore of the chosen kills another thread

>got to endgame in xpiratez but can't progress because either you're missing some specific thing that's required to interrogate the provost despite being able to interrogate everyone else or research is just bugged

is there even an up to date tech tree available somewhere

Why

Because I have to dedicate 1/5 of my SSD to do even the most basic shit with it. No other game I ever modded handled it in such a terribly retarded way.

Boar wine, Commander

so don't use your ssd?

So instead I should do a second installation specifically for modding and waste 120 on my HDD. Fantastic solution.

Anyone tried out MINT+Delta? Is it worth a shot? Should I start with a bigger squad?

why would you need a second install?

You can have separate installations of the game and tools, user.

ayyyy don't die

...

You can call me boo 'cause I'm ghost in the morning.

>also is into the breach good?
Yes, it honestly is good. It has one major issue, and that is that if you start to lose, you snowball basically instantly and it all goes wrong. There's really no recovering from a bad mission or two and if you lose a pilot you should just scrub the entire run. You either do well the whole way through or you restart. Otherwise, it's pretty damn fun and I can well recommend it.

>it had a nice OP.

That OP could also be a 'problem' for other people.

I was thinking ItB was going to be talked about in here but then /gerg/ does indeed exists.

you just described XCOM

It's really not on topic, but it's not like it's beating out on topic discussion.

you can recover from "a bad mission or two" in xcom
losing one high level troop sucks (especially in vanilla where you generally only have a handful of really good guys) but you can still easily recover
however squadwipes will end your campaign

>>It's really not on topic

I trend to see anything in a grid as XCOM-like or "X-COM enough" but that's just me

should I finish my first play through or start a new one now that I have war of the chosen? I think I was pretty far in the campaign when I stopped

Nah, xcom games have a tactical layer, a strategic layer, squads, research and engineering, and a base(s) with staff. The strategic layer and tactical layer need to be loops that feed into each other continuously.
Otherwise the majority of turn based games would be "X-COM" games when they are too different imo. Something like Advance wars might as well be "X-COM Enough."
But I'll use a closer example like Silent Storm. Plays similar to an "X-COM like" in some ways, but I wouldn't label it one because the tactical layer and strategic don't really feed into each other and there is no research or engineering or staff.

I'd finish your play-thorugh before moving on. It's unlikely you'll ever return to vanilla xcom2.

The only non-xcom game we talk about regularly is phoenix point, but that's a game made buy the guy who made xcom designed to play like xcom to become an alternative to xcom.
In my opinion everything else is off-topic, although I personally don't mind if we occasionally talk about other turn-based games because the general is slow right now and it's better then mindless bumping

>The only non-xcom game we talk about regularly is phoenix point,
And Xenonauts.
>non-xcom
ehhhhhhhhh

Nah. In XCOM, you can survive a bad mission or even three, you can fight the snowball and recover from it. In ITB, you literally cannot. There are no tools to recover from a bad mission, everything is skin of your teeth. I like it, because it is a different feel and really rewards player skill, but it definitely isn't easy or for the faint of heart.

that's kinda similar to their previous game FTL in a way.
if you fall behind the curve, you start to inverse snowball into hell

Yeah, I'm not really surprised by it, since FTL was similar. It seems to be their wheelhouse.

...

>to do even the most basic shit with it.

"Basic shit" would be config edits, which you don't even need the SDK for.

>No other game I ever modded handled it in such a terribly retarded way.

SDK includes all the assets so I think its size is fair. The biggest problem with it is any package built in the WOTC SDK will be incompatible with vanilla.

Well, each run isn't supposed to last very long.

Honestly, I think it suffers from the same problem as FTL. It's very streamlined and focused, and I like bonding with my team and having a long campaign.

FTL could have been an amazing open-world rogue-like, but it was razor focused into going for the last boss. I didn't like that.

Nobody properly talks about Xenonauts, because Xenonauts lacks depth.

I think people would talk about it more if OXCOM wasn't a thing. But it is, and the mods for it do more interesting things than Xenonauts manages to do.

Well yeah, but people still talk about it. And the UFO After games as well.

...

And that's a really good example of the "Things I don't really want to find at home after work" category.

Why not? I'd like to find XCOM at my house after work one day. I'd prefer they didn't blow my house in half, but hey, take the bad with the good.

Yeah I wouldn't want to arrive home to see that someone went through my computer either.

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE EXPANSION JAKE

REEEEEEEEEEEEE

I am curious if Tygan's voice actor is actually black

BOTH BARRELS

?

Neat.

Lily's isn't asian.

...

What a shame. I recently discovered she has a big bum I can't find my picture of it though

ADVENT isn't voiced by actual aliens.

...

Of course not you doughnut ADVENT aren't aliens.

That's because only the actual aliens are voiced by aliens.

This. Lol dumb user, advent are the human arm of the aliens
