I think it was more it's a broken skill that gives you an insane battle advantage just for existing, without the need for positioning or unit placement.

Titania is a bit odd to build. She's a melee unit with mediocre atk and def (although her spd helps her defensive-wise), and Distant Counter is too rare of a skill for many people to give to her. She's really in need of her own prf, much more than Soren who actually has a good stat spread and works with plenty of builds with some investment.

You can keep Emerald Axe with her if you want to patch up her Atk (+ Fury 3), or go with a Slaying Axe and rely on Iceberg. If I had to build one now, I'd go with a simple Fury 3 or bond skill/Lancebreaker/Ploy skill/DD3 or CD3 for dragon killing/patch up her defenses.

You need to be patient. I would focus more on trying to build as many units as possible for AA.
I get 45,600 feathers every 28 days as maximum rewards for arena and AA, not to mention the 160 Coins and Stones.

This makes a total of 52,050 feathers every 30 days excluding those from daily login bonus, rotating daily quest, and any sort of tempest or voting gauntlet rewards.

How do you guys manage to play without feeling extremely behind all the time? I want to get into the game but I can't shake the feeling that I'll never catch up to powercreep roll-wise.

The way the dialogue was written is fitting for female protagonist. This is due to her irrational way of thinking and believing she can save everyone. Since the dialogue is the same if you played as a male character, it further emphasises that Corrin's character was meant to be a girl. Mamui would have been better character if he was written as a typical shounen MC. Let me reiterate, they are both dog shit characters but in the context of fates and the way the dialogue was written it is clearly suited for femui.
