I guess my complaint was weird but

It felt like there wasn't enough space, the characters felt far to close together and the movement felt very slow.

I know the movement gets more fluid/faster as you get better but the spacing felt weird

Also I forgot to mention that you might have trouble finding people to play while Eleague is on.

Give it a chance, it's constantly on sale and I believe it's currently even on sale for ps4. It's a very fun game and while difficult it's extremely rewarding to learn this game and improve. The recommended beginner characters are Kazumi, Shaheen, and Jack.

Both are pretty healthy playerbases so pick up which one is most convenient for you.

Once you hit the 100 hour mark of the EWGF vortex your neurons have subtly begun to change. By hour 200 you know nothing but EWGF.

Yeah Slim Bob is gone and Bob in general is nerfed because Bob was legitimately broken in T6 and TTT2. I don't know about your skill level but I recommend a beginner character to learn movement and poking for a while. Remember to use the resources in the OP and feel free to ask for tips here.
