Primary reason is most people are trash. They're either going to die and get looted alone and retarded or they're going to go back to cult central, get papered and reconverted because the cult isn't retarded for once.

If they don't take the initiative to join the jihad, the best thing to do is just be read to shoot them again when they come for you and start killing and destroying their ghost not deconverting to feed the ecosystem

Heads up, implants only prevent cult conversion. You need to feed them holy water or have the chaplain bible the shit out of their unprotected head then give them alkysine to be sure they're not a cultist.

I'm moving botany down one instead of kitchen up one but kitchen will receive tables.
Bar had half as much space so the bartenders cabinet was in the kitchen. I didn't look at the stuff IN the rooms I just gave them more space. I'll add the cabinet to the bartenders side.

How do you guys feel about giving people that start in X department certain small buffs, which can also be bestowed by reading special books which take Y time to read?

Stuff like giving medical doctors a slightly increased chance to successful perform surgery on improvised platforms like tables/roller beds, slightly decreasing construction times for engineers, increasing yield on chemistry reactions by Z% (somewhere in the 3 to 5 range is my initial thought, and it might not apply for certain reactions depending on how rare/strong the reagent is). Books for these "skills" would spawn in the same place that the guides for the department does, and can be printed from the library. Ideally these skills would also be able to be toggled on/off by the player.

I feel that this would increase the mechanical utility of Librarian, and slightly increase the efficiency of people who spawn and work in the same department. This addition ideally wouldn't nerf anything that already exists, nor would it give outrageous buffs that break the game.

you'd need to give them some kind of real cost so people can't just print one of each and hand them out to everyone for sick skill ups

Sounds ok in theory but in game I don't know how it would do.

The cost would be the time it takes to read the book, and the buffs should be small enough that it wouldn't really matter if you did read them all, should you choose to spend the time doing so.

The theory being sound is all I'm really trying to probe out by posting ITT.

I guess you could also require nanopaper to print them, or some other material component requirement. They could also take a while to print.

The thing is there are upgraded versions of tools so stuff like surgery is all ready stupid fast once you get the laser scalpel, incision manager and the like.
The only one that could kinda work is engineers being able to build things a bit faster then others.

Just some example thoughts. Precise buffs would be determined on a case-by-case basis, again, with the strict requirement of not being game breaking. If something already has a the ability to be increased, like surgery speed via tools, there wouldn't be a skill for it.
