Here's the thing about Xmas Arulu. She's a better veil carrier than Katalina, whose unfocused kit (low CD low % damage cut, one-turn TA buff, small HOT on veil, elemental attack buff on ougi) kind of makes her only real high point her veil.

Arulu carries your team's Veil, provides 25% water def down, AND buffs the whole team, giving you a lot more damage than Katalina overall and freeing up a character slot/EX skill that would otherwise be dedicated to reaching defdown cap.

However.

If you don't need the veil, you don't take her IF you have an alternative, because guess what, Veil in content that doesn't ask for one is a dead skill. And a lot of content doesn't require Veil.

She's a very, very strong choice to ticket, though, if you don't already have a character that can help you cap def down like Wet Yuel or Drang. She'll be capping your defdown with Mist and buffing the team in the process, and at least her Veil has Revitalize attached so it's not a 100% dead skill.

So if you don't have Katalina already, get Xmas Arulu. If you have Katalina AND at least one of Wet Yuel or Drang, don't get Xmas Arulu.

You should probably get Xmas Arulu.

Your alternative is Summer Dia, who is 100% focused on buffing your team to shit out tons of burst damage and nothing else. She's the foundation of a lot of first turn kill setups which saves you lots of time, as well as blitzing through punching-bag tier content (which admittedly is most of it), and time is GBF's scarcest resource. But she won't help you survive in tough content. If you play this game to enjoy the fights themselves, Xmas Arulu is your girl. If you're all about the ESPAWTS and powerfarming, get Diantha.

F2P Zeus is dead too unless you luckshit an Eden or Io stick, or if Hector bow ever gets a LB4. It's silly that magna now has better access to stamina while also having the hp pool to support it.

Not really. Hardest part is the Ultima Core, which you get for clearing Ubaha and UbahaHL for the first time. You could also swap out someone for Lily if you need more heals/clarity.
