So it's been like, a year since I've played this, maybe more. Any one willing to give an update on what's changed, gotten more fucked, less fucked?

I want to get back in and at the same time dread it.

Any genuinely good cases or is that still a fool's dream?

It's probably in your best interest to stay away. A lot of good people have left over the past year due to poor management. There aren't nearly as many good cases as there used to be, either.

Previous admin fucked everything and purposefully fabricated drama between servers
Server drama died off, admin of drama server is actually halfway decent player
Bunch of old players left because content issues or issues with new playerbase or old admin
New admin in process of unfucking everything best he can
Current playerbase continues to be mostly fucked because of an influx of new players who don't even attempt to roleplay
Some great cases here and there generally played by a very small section of the community, but mostly shitters who don't want to roleplay and who play to win in a glorified RP chatlog

I don't get it at all, the Verin drama hurt the thread more than helped. The general's "reputation" has tanked considerably thanks to it. Even if it's slower nowadays, it's much preferable now to before.

This. Tutorials are fun as hell, they're short, you get to bant at the defense bench and not feel bad because they'll overcome it anyway, and a successful first case is one of the best ways to ensure a repeat visitor.

Jap wine has, for the longest time, been an absolute fucking joke, mostly consisting of mixing imports and yes, straight grape juice. So it's probably less a censorship thing and more "Phoenix a shit and buys cheapo local '''''wine'''''' ".

What is the proper time to step in as a judge to keep a case from descending into literally hours of pointless banter hell.

Generally speaking I do it like this:
Defense makes point > pro rebuts > defense pushes same point without changing anything > INTERVENE

Defense makes point > pro rebuts > defense makes different point > pro makes their own point > INTERVENE

But I judge rarely, and I mostly stick to it as a way to generally cut down on time and if need be, force them to summarize their shit just so they actually have to think on what they made me sit here for 40+ minutes listening to.

Really, it's all about finding out what works for you, and paying attention as much or more than as a witness. Benches can meander on without many caring, you don't have that option with actually responsible roles.

Building from scratch takes a minimum hour and a half, and you have to have decent timing to get a lead spot these days with all the youtubefags who jump right into leading with no idea what to do.

God nothing pisses me off more to go to an area that just /needed for some people and just opened up only to see all the bench roles taken by people who have no idea what they are doing, and refuse to let anyone who does know what they are doing take the lead.
I mean, if you want to learn how to roleplay and do this properly, you need to actually put effort into learning and not just wing it. Winging it wastes my time and the courts time putting up with your stupidity.
